I think I would fall out. It's 98 here with high humidity. It's rough with a straw hat.

Looks like it once was a western...

It is a Stetson Weekender. Original stock photo below.

I changed out the hat band from the original leather to the 1 3/4" vintage ribbon. No other alterations.
Joao, the brim is a massive 2 1/2"!!! :D

This year in Jerusalem...

Off to Israel for another summer trip, and my Dobbs TAR is fit for fight.

I picked up this hat last year from our own Bond on a whim as a travel hat, and it has really proven its worth. It took a good beating last year, and it's in for it again. I think a cleaning will be in order after this trip.

The Palestinian village of Silwan sits just south southeast of Jerusalem's Old City.

Location doesn't mean you can't make your home beautiful.

Sit and read for awhile. There's plenty to learn about beneath Robinson's Arch near the Western Wall.

Why, yes, that is a Borsalino the gentleman on the right is wearing. You see a lot of them around here, even if the color range lacks a little in variety.

There is always somewhere else to explore...

...and more corners to turn.

The Dobbs takes a little break, with the model of the Second Temple at the Israel Museum in the background.

The trip continues!

The snake path up to the top of Masada. Masada rises 1300 feet from the desert floor, and this path is a challenge; it was 36 C when we left at 11 am. You do the math.

I hadn't realized that silverbelly was really designed for this terrain, but the Dobbs blends right in.

One of the two caves at Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.

The Dead Sea used to be higher.

The monastery of St. George sits in a valley that runs through the Judean Mountains from Jerusalem to Jericho. There are still 10 full-time monks who live in the caves above the monastery.

Pretty sure I can get you a deal on hats like my friend here wears.

You should all come visit. It's an amazing place, and it's better to come before you get too much older since some of these sites are challenging to visit.

Nowhere near as close as Aaron's trip, but as close to Heaven as I'll ever get, a boat ride on "our" pond; the pond's view of the cabin...
wearing a go-to "Special Reserve" Panama from PHD!
