My Milan Stratoliner served me well for a day of hitting the fleamarkets.

I first ran across this cool old photo.

I then came across this Lion hat. It is too small, but for $6 I got it to add to the collection.

I could not pass up this Gene Autry book, only $5.

In another shop we ran across these Beaver Brand boxes. I don’t think I saw any like this at the auction.

All in all it was a good day at the market. I will add that at the place I bought the Lion hat, the lady ask did I happen to see the old Stetson back there.
But as my luck goes .. the old Stetson was gone.

Thank you all for the compliments on the buckskin.

Today a visit to another lighthouse, this one a bit more far away from my house (aprox. 100kms) near Peniche.

But first a stop at a famous beach, Praia da Consulação. From here we can see the lighthouse and the Berlengas islands, a natural reserve (it have a lighthouse too).

^^ Berlengas islands and Peniche peninsula.

^^ Stetson Nutria. I was afraid of loosing it because there was a lot of wind.

^^ The lighthouse

^^ We can see "Praia da Consulação" from here.

^^ This is facing North.

^^ Facing West, the Berlengas islands seen from the top of the lighthouse.

Joao, it has been many years since I last had the pleasure to travel in your country. I always enjoy your photos, especially the ones of the beautiful coastline.

Joao - great photos - you have a fascinating coastline. I wonder why your lighthouses tend to be square, rather than the curved towers we have here.

Beautiful coastline Joao, glad you didn't lose your hat. It was also a beautiful day in Tacoma, Wa today for the Kirkland Concours d'Elegance. I hope I don't annoy anyone with too many cellphone pixs of some of my favorite cars. Got there early and there was still a bit of fog hanging around.

First, the obligatory pix of me in a fedora to qualify, standing next to an Alfa Romero 6C by Figoni

And Alfa Romero 8C by Touring

It's actually dark blue, this car won Best of Show at Pebble Beach in 2008

Mercedes Benz SSK

How about some 300 SL's

Nice trunk space eh?

Predecessor of the 300SL, the W194 which won Le Mans in 1952

Can't forget the motorcycles

This Flying Merkel is in the LeMay Museum lobby, the Concours was on the lawn

Not a show without Ferrari's. Judges on the right wore straw fedoras

The iconic 250 California

When in a California you often see Woody's :) BTW, the Tacoma Dome in the back ground roof is also made of wood

I can post more tomorrow if it's OK with you guys.

Fine with me at least. :)

I don't own a car and have no interest in cars beyond the aesthetics. Now these ones really have great aesthetics. It's a rare car produced later than the 60's that says something to me - some of these really sing.

Nice shirt and hat combo too :D

Felt was certainly not the only material they could block into outstanding styles and shapes, back in the 30s! Art Deco cars when best!

"The Flying Merkel" ... I wonder how that bike would sell here on the European market
