Looks like a great trip, Ole!

You ARE one crazy Sod, though. Denmark to Nashville....who'da thunk it?
Give a hollar & come on over to the real Tennessee, Knoxville, The Great Smokies & Co. -a place unlike any other.
Drive over the Gap to the Cherokee Rez. in North Carolina, a remnant band who refused to move to NDN territory, largest east of the Mississippi. Some great artists, Pow-Wows, car shows and a casino...hillbilly heaven.
We've got 200 proof 'shine here that'll burn a blue flame.

...secondly- you are not too late!
I was blessed to see "the Great Speckled Bird" (Acuff) & Ms. Pearl at the "new" Opry (NOT the Ryman), in the early 9o's along w/ little Jimmie Dickens & others.
I have Dolly floor tickets & Willie floor tickets within 30 days of each other, upcoming. Merle still tours, as does Loretta, Billy Joe Shaver & a range of brilliant "up & comers". We saw BB King for the first time since '76, here at the Tennessee Theatre two years ago. I can only imagine what Nashville is like.

What an adventure! Please do keep us up to date! Bunden i vejret eller resten i håret! :D

Ole, congrats on your new opportunity. One great challenge in moving to the Southern US, you will need to embrace grits.
Being a music fan, especially for old-time, bluegrass, etc. you couldn't be in a better place.

Wow! Thank you for all the kind greetings and comments. I will hold you up on invitations, when I start to check out the area. I expect to flag the crowd, when I move - please let me know, if any of you come to Nashville. It would be great to meet :)

I buy in on a package - including politics as decided upon by Americans. If anyone around me should express interest in my view on Danish politics, I would be more than happy to describe it in detail. At some point in time I may begin to express views on American politics, but that's not on my to-do list at all - and that's pretty long. I do know a lot about American history, and I know our peoples have had very different backgrounds and conditions, and those differences reflect in the ways we have build our systems. We are so alike - and yet so different. "One to one" comparisons between our systems are impossible, and a lot of issues must be solved in different ways. For now and a long time ahead, my (guest-) views on American politics will be of interest to me, only. I can think of other controversial issues, but I have seen it work out fine for others ;)

Perry : You got me there! I know, I boasted to be "trained hillbilly" - and then called a breakfast without grits: "our last Southern breakfast"! Unforgivable! Arkansas Lightning and "funny-bones" doesn't make a true hillbilly. I have sworn to finish the grits-course, first thing back in Nashville, though. I'm told, that the mojo-bone will break, if I don't. Can't have that happen lol

Now, hol' up, now, REAL grits are whole germ, stoneground, speckled (w/ the germ) and yeller. Don't accept that sorry, runny white wallpaper paste they pawn off as "grits" at Waffle House or Cracker Barrel.
Think "Hillbilly polenta".

...have to get you a "toter's license" too, so you can walk around with a .45 at your side.

...good times. :thumb:

There you go, Rick. Not only do you have to "embrace the grits" - you also have to know which grits to embrace. Probably not a bad idea to "stick a finger into the ground" - an old Danish saying, meaning something like "check where you are, and act accordingly" lol

My childhood was very untypical for a Dane, and I had fired most manual, semi- and full-automatic weapon types before I was 12. I'm very fascinated by antique weapons on display in museums, but that's it. Unless I take up hunting, I'll no doubt be looking for a "new" vintage open-back banjo, before I'll be looking for guns.

Btw, your Danish sentence "Bunden i vejret eller resten i håret!" was very well formulated. Ususally you can recognize a Google-translation, but I can't tell if this one actually was written by a Dane. Perfect! ;)

Most people when see me think I'm american because of the westerns I wear. I don't know if I would like to live in the US but for sure it is one of the places I would love to visit.
It would be a great adventure to live in another country. Good luck Ole and may your dreams come true.

Thank you guys. Both in Vegas and Nashville I saw very few fedoras. In Vegas I saw some western hats - obviously worn by other visitors. At the conference I spotted only one (other) excentric looking elderly gentleman, wearing several different fedoras. In Nashville I only saw westerns - but not as many as expected. Nevertheless, I've never received so many compliments for my hats as in the U.S. :)

Thanks a lot, Thunderball. My dad was a wood conservator at The Royal Danish Army Museum in Copenhagen for 40 years. I was more or less raised there, so that would be very interesting for me to see. It seems, there are so many interesting an historic places in the area - not least in the context of The Civil War. Absolutely a great tip ;)

Over the weekend Cristen and I had a 3 hour gig at a really neat French Bistro/Wine Bar. We have played together many times but this was our first Duo gig. Usually there are more people playing with us, but this weekend was just the two of us. It was a blast. Here's a couple pics from it. I'm wearing my 50's Stetson Semi-Long Hair with new black pug ribbon.
