Beautiful pics Che! I fell in love with the west coast when we were in Oregon last year. Thanks for sharing

g.Long Beach looks much nicer than the near ghost town it was in the late 70's when I was there. Christmas season looks different in caly too.

Thank you, Richard and Manfred. We are indeed fortunate, and I am getting a long-needed holiday.

Mike--this is my first visit to this part of the LA area. It does look like Long Beach is scaling up.

dh--the LA area in the winter is really pleasant. It was in the high 60s yesterday, and I was in shirtsleeves for awhile. We're off to some cooler climes, though.

Andy's (Orangegrad) photo the other day at White Sands National Monument made me realize we weren't going to be too far way, so we made a slight detour. Andy, I hope I'm not stealing your thunder since you promised more photos.

The place is awe-inspiring.

Michael, my father was stationed at White Sands in the 60's and I have many childhood memories of the place. We lived in El Paso at the time and I remember many strange events and creatures from there, including tumbleweeds rolling down the streets. Those same streets would flood after rains and there would be snakes and lizards floating by. There was a giant insect we called a vinegar roach that was probably actually a scorpion. Horned toads were everywhere. We also crossed the boarder into Juarez for weekend visits, something you probably don't want to do now if your fond of your life.

Awesome photos Michael. Beautiful landscape out there, and you definately know how to dress for a road trip. You are absolutely killing me, I want to head back out that way so bad.
