mike, couldn't agree with you more. I spoke briefly with a couple of park rangers. Forgot to ask if they were getting paid.

Richard, very little of the west coast is a national park. Most of it is relatively pristine, aside from the degradation of the health of the ocean in general. In California the state government oversees preservation of the natural coastline. Oregon and Washington have similar oversight of their coastlines.

So...after Mrs B and I visited Thailand, we made a trip up to Bhutan. I say up because Bhutan is next to Tibet, partially in the Himalayas (when Mrs B said we just HAD to go there, I had to look it up on a map). So...we did go there:

We visited an old fort called "Drukgyal Dzong."

For our next adventure we rode ponies up to the famous "Tiger's Nest" Buddhist monastery, more than a thousand years old and 10,000 feet above sea level.

We stopped far short of Tiger's Nest, but close enough for me to get this zoomed in picture:

I just wanted to share some of the views we went to New England for. These were all around or in Stowe.

This waterfall was in the Berkshires around Great Barrington (I had to get the fedora in here somewhere!). All in all we hiked in to several waterfalls. A couple were around the Stowe area.

You guys that live in these areas, I am very envious!:D. These cell phone pictures just can't do it justice.

Blackthorn; Thanks for showcasing your travels. It lookslike a very inviting place to visit. Wow. I imagine your travel agent really appreciates you.

Roger; Amazing shots with a camera phone of the North East. You and your significant other appear to have enjoyed the vistas. Your VS is just grand.

Thanks guys, Eric -

Thanks Manfred, dh66, Eric and Richard. It was a joy to experience the northeast at this time of year. I'll bet with the "real" camera we took 1000 pictures! I am surprised the SD card survived and didn't melt down!

Wine65 and Blackthorn all I can say is WOW!, Just stunning!

and Charlie I hope your shoulder is improving and I love your pictures. The last one of the set at the lake is gorgeous!

That goes for you too Eric. I for one always look forward to your lake shots. Like dh66 I am usually living the seasons vicariously through the lounge. Last year fall didn't hit until the first week of December. I remember on Dec. 1st it was 85 degrees! Looks like this year its going to cool down early.

Blackthorn, thanks for sharing, you've have to have earned the prize for distance traveled on your adventures.

Roger, the cell phone does do the scenery justice. Hard to beat a crisp clear fall day with foliage.

Spectacular photos!
Wine65 looks to be having a grand time rubbing elbows with the rich and famous...
Blackthorn I really look forward to your exotic and always beautiful trip reports. You went a long way to bring us those eye-popping photos!
Rogera thank you for the kind thoughts my friend. I'm glad y'all had such a good time, especially happy that you got to see the statue.
