I made it over to Tennessee yesterday to help Major Moore at his grandmothers place in Mississippi.

Today I spent a enjoyable time at the shop!

My new work fedora!

I could not get away with wearing it.... but I really like the looks of Mike and Rocky's "DAY OF THE DEAD" hat!

We lost one to lightening in the storms this past wk. She didn't take a direct hit but we did financially. She would have calved 3 more times for us.

Sorry for that loss, HJ. I do like that hat, though and it looks like clear skies for now. We had a new deck built within the last two weeks and about a week ago me and the missus, along with a neighbor layed 9 pallets of Bermuda sod in the back yard. I thought the sod was gonna float away in last nights rain.

That sucks. Someone near here lost 31 dairy cows a couple of weeks back in a single lightning strike when the cows were all gathered under some trees. (The hat does not suck ... in fact, it's pretty amazing)

31 dairy cows...wow!

Thanks for the compliment on the hat. It's among my favorites but the brim has gotten a bit wonky of late & it needs to be freshened up a bit. I'll probably do that sometime before fall season.

I'll bet you had some sore muscles after that sod work!

HJ, early in my career I kept a part time job with a landscaping company, doing maintenance and installation for four years. When Lady B asked if we needed to hire someone to lay the sod I shirked it off, saying "I've laid sod down in four full yards in a day", with a full crew of course. Thirty years later one should be wiser. Not necessarily so. I hurt for days.

I went on a hike through the park areas in our neighborhood this afternoon. A cool 60'F day to explore the late May Minnesota outdoors.

Very enjoyable to view the native birds close-up. I spent time viewing not exotic birds, but strikingly pretty common birds and their activities. They come in our backyard to feeders, but checking on their native habitat is cool. Bluebird and Cardinal pics below. The hawks and local owl were not available for pics.

The lupins are filling the fields with purple/blue color this afternoon.

(Note: No Lupins were killed or hurt in the making of the above pic.)

Of course it rained for a while. It can come as no wonder that my fellow Minnesotan's just roll the phrase, "could be worse" off their tongues when asked about the weather. Rain - no worries - could be worse.

Even the white pines are getting into the late spring business.

Thanks for letting me share a hike thru my neighborhood with you. Upon closer look the everyday is full of wonder.

I've missed you and these wonderful posts my friend! Those olive trees look so ancient and cool. This was a welcome treat this morning.
