Side-by-side, the FF3 Strat prototype is the same felt as the modern HatCo Stetson Stratoliner. The Silverbelly may be a tad lighter weight than the Caribou. HTH

ETA: Oops, might have jumped the gun here, just going back through the thread, I see the Major did make a post just over a week ago, looks like he's still hard at it on this one. I'm sure he'll post more when he can.

Still working with Hatco on our hat, what we do not want is the plant to walk thru just one hat and fix the concerns I had, what we are testing is to see if several can pass thru and all be right, that way we have all the concerns taken care of and each person on the line will know what he or she must do on this hat and any thing less than right will not fly with me or you the customers.

Hang in there with us guys, it will happen and it will be what we all want in the end. There were a few concerns that we just would not allow on this hat, and Hatco person is trying to get the tickets worked out and what each step along the way will have to do to make right, if one person falls short on what he has to do, it makes a problem for the next person

Yup, the longer it takes, the more I fear that this experiment has gone the same way as Besdor's efforts a couple of years ago with the Nostalgia at Bencraft. It's hard to shake that piece-work paradigm and get consistently higher quality for any 'special run' of product (hats), so I fear things are not going well. Thanks to the Major for giving it a genuine chance. But, maybe we shouldn't be so pessimistic, quality takes time. Maybe it ain't dead just yet.

I'm a newbie here and still waiting to buy my first fedora. I'm going to pick up something relatively cheap on here or on eBay in the next few weeks to knock around in, but I thought if this project was close to coming to fruition that I'd wait for this hat to come out and make it my first really nice one. I'm following this thread with interest, but I'm not in a great hurry. I'm going to give them plenty of time. It appears to me that the folks involved in this know precisely what they are doing.

That is good to hear. My theory is that the Major does not have time to post in this thread because he's too busy making my 7 5/8 Long Oval with a perfect bash just like the one in the Stetson Stratoliner Advertisement earlier in this thread-LOL!

Would be great if he could, but I understand he may be too busy, or may simply have no NEW information for us. I also worry as time goes by that it may fall by the wayside, but perhaps not. Being positive is a great idea, and will be made easier by an "update" (even if it's to say work is still ongoing and new new info is available).

I want one of these. Also will probably soon pick up one of Stetson's current issue Strats (just for fun). AThat one either from the Outlet (don't have them yet but I think I read they are coming) or from Henry's in Detroit (was told by Joe they will stock them this Fall in black and silver belly, when i asked about the other colors, was not aware of them- i suspect he now is).

The hat is still a go from my end, info coming back from the plant is a little slow, our person at the plant wears many hats and is trying to put a new catalog in the works. When I do get the right info back and I feel the hat is ready to be made and sent to me , I will post a email asking all that want one to at that time send his or her request in, the FL folks will have 7 days to send that info ( hat size they want) to me. At this time, I am trying to make sure that the hat will resale with shipping only within the lower 48 states around $150.00.

As I get more info from the plant, and a real price from them, I will post ASAP.
I have not wanted to be too pushy with the plant on this first hat, but if and when we go to color number two, I will become more demanding on current info from the plant ( how long of a wait?,, what is the min and max shipping amounts)
