Fedora Lounge History

I'm pretty new around these parts and have put my 2 cents in here and there. Everyone has been GREAT! I've gotten great advice and have been made to feel very welcome.
That being said and I'm sure its in a thread around here somewhere, but can anyone (MK maybe) give me a breif history of the Lounge? I've heard mention of an "old Fedora Lounge" was there a change in mgt some time? or a new layout? When did this wealth of hat knowledge begin? Where? and who are the brave men and women who began this great forum?

Words cannot describe...

It spun off of COW. It was a small chat room. It grew into the Fedora Lounge. You have YEARS of enjoyable archives to visit and read..and it will take some time. MK is the Boss, the founder of the Lounge. Most of the Bartenders have been here for 4 or 5 years.

It is a nice place, a classy one. Modeled after a nice, classic bar/lounge where folks of culture meet to exchange intellectual ideas, share stories of their adventures, and dress sharply in the Classic Style.

It took me several months to ascertain that COW was Cafe Obie Wan. Cafe Obie Wan is another bulletin board (I think). I'm not quite sure how COW developed, but the thing was, Spileberg called the cafe in the original Indiana Jones movie Cafe Obie Wan in honor of, and with a wink to, Star Wars. So the whole thing derives from Indiana Jones mania. OK, somebody who's been around longer than me, please provide the rest of the back story?

The FAQs are out of date!

There is a whole part of them saying the rules governing political discussion, and since those were posted, it has become the policy that there will be no political discussion (as in the fourth thread down on each forum). Some bartender should take care of that as it is contradictory.

Overall they are fairly complete, but certainly all newbies have questions and make mistakes, so don't feel bad!

I guess I'm not a newbie anymore - I just noticed that I have achieved "One Too Many" status (no surprise to anyone who knows me!).

That's a very good point. Bad and conflicting information just confuses people.

most of this has been very helpful. I am also a new member over at COW, but I haven't posted a thing, I don't think it's my bag. I didn't know that this used to be part of COW, thanks for the info!

aside: After a week of thinking to myself "dang, there are alot of bartenders who wear fedoras" I wised up to the system of who runs this thing...needless to say, I felt stupid after I figured it out.

Thanks for the history lesson guys, umm. I think I missed the political post you guys are talking about, because to me it seems like the topic sort of popped out of nowhere. I wont be talking about how or why I voted for **********lol lol anytime soon in a forum about hats. Thanks guys!!:eusa_clap
