Poppycock. I can think of dozens of "exceptions" to that general rule.

To tell the truth, I don't wear a hat to be sexy, and I'm not trying to attract or impress Isabella Snow.

Really? That's exactly why I started wearing hats!

Now that I know she's not impressed, off goes the hat.

Meh...Everyone has their own opinion of what's "sexy" and what isn't so I don't even take articles like that seriously. Sexy is such an individual thing. I'm sure there have been a number of articles along the lines of "men with long hair are not sexy", or "women without makeup are not attractive"...That's only one side of the coin. You could easily find just as many people who feel the opposite is true. The truth of the matter is that confidence is sexy and that sexiness cannot be forced or it won't work. If you're comfortable in your own skin and don't give a flying **** what other people think of you, I think you'll find yourself far more attractive to the opposite (or same) sex and it really won't matter if you're wearing a fedora or ball cap, or hell even a big red Santa Claus hat. You need to own what you wear and that will make all the difference.

So much for what Our Ladyship, Princess Snow knows . . . .

Gentlemen, you know what they say about opinions, right? Well, much of it applies to her, with interest.

Class being the point of the whole exercise, we attract others with similar values. I think I can abide very comfortably in the knowledge that a fedora - and all that it represents - is a distinct turn-off to individuals such as her.

I honestly could care less what an internet blogger named Isabella Snow thinks about my hat. The society that we live in today is very stereotypical in that regard - someone openly bashes a percentage of the community and then is rewarded because of it.
I bet that if Isabella here asked me if her outfits were sexy, I would say hell no 99.9% of the time.

This makes me sick. I wish we could somehow get her to read all of our responses and see what she's gotten herself into.

Do not let it bother you. Unfortunately the internet empowers those who have nothing interesting to say. People think every silly thought that occurs to them has to be shared with the world.

Meh from me as well....it's an opinion and they're entitled to it. In their defense those photos were not particularly sexy. I saw many far more stylish photos of fedoras on the FL members in the last two days.....

These are they types of articles one must take with a humongous grain o' salt.....if what you see in the mirror makes you smile and the 1 or 2 people you care most about don't have a problem with it, that's all that counts in my book.

I replied...excuse me, commented. (Blogese for replied.) I said there's more to sexy than looking like the media archetype du jour, and that if your typical guy doesn't look great in hats, it's because the style of how to make and wear them has been lost to us.

Yes, those of you are right who said that no one has any business giving high-handed "opinions" (really pronouncements) on style. Unfortunately, it's become an industry, and it's laid a heavy hand on people's tastes. So we, who are deliberately not in step with fashion, have to deal with that.

This is not a big deal at all. It wasn't even written badly. I think those rubber croc shoes look ridiculous, along with the shearling-insulated UGG boots, and I'm sure there are forums out there with participants that would get all huffy over me saying so. Not to mention that fedoras are an isolated, niche thing.

The article was written along her idea of style, her tastes. I don't know who she is, I've never heard of her before, but she seems to feel she's important enough to inflict her opinions on those who probably don't even really want it. Personally, I thought her ramblings were ridiculous.

That's what an opinion is...

Why do you say they probably don't even really want it? They have to go to that webpage of their own volition in order to read it, unless she's spamming people. She writes a sex column for AskMen.com and writes intentional smut novels and probably has a following from the fans of both. She's not forcing anything on you.

And she thinks fedoras are ridiculous. This isn't a right/wrong thing.

Judging by her blog in general, I'd say this is someone who rushes out to buy whatever Paris Hilton is wearing at the moment, from those aforementioned ridiculous foam rubber shoes to the chihuahua in a little designer bag. And though I'm quite certain that the better part of the people she knows has seen her thong strap hanging out of the back of her pants, we're the ones lacking style.

Well, I think it is safe to say that most of the women on this forum find fedoras sexy. And since I would assume that these are the sort of women that you lidded gentlemen are generally attracted to (at least, we ladies hope so) who gives a bloody ... care ... what some self-styled modern fashion blogger thinks?

And, in a beautiful flash of irony, please scroll down past all the comments ... and you will see an ad for fedoras from thevillagehatshop.com

Ah, the power of keywords and the internet.
