Trying for a Vettriano'esque looking picture (see pic)

Just playing with a 'very basic' photo editing programme to give this photo a painted look in the Vettriano style.

Edward Hopper's fedora art

Edward Hopper, my favorite artist, did a lot of paintings of "classic style" and people in fedora's, most notably his self portrait. I'm not good at inserting pictures, but two of my favorites are "New York Movie" and "Chop Suey." Best Regards, Mrs. MK

I am a big Hopper fan and Nighthawks has been a favorite artist of mine for years, like that Vettriano, too.

Has anyone seen the FDR memorial in DC, it is new and I have not been to DC in eons. Kind of grim, depression era stuff, but nice to see fedoras in statuary form, also....

Let's see if I can get any images of the site. If not, there are photos on Google images:

We have 2 Vettriano reproductions in our home. They were the first pieces we hung when we moved in.

I'll have to check out more about Lynch. Those pieces looked amazing!

Okay, 'me too'.

I've long admied Vettriano's style and taste. It's a shame he doesn't get more recognition. On the other hand, even though his work definitely evokes a period feel, the subjects are...unlikely? Not sure how to say it.

Lynch definitely warrants more looking into. I like the cigar bar painting.

WingNut in Vettriano mode...WOW!

That just looks sooooooo good. This has got me thinking of a FL calender with members done in paint !![huh] As some of these pics are just so great.

Anyway...incredible contributions to this thread and a real education for me to some great artists out there!!:eusa_clap

With all the talk of home decor

Found this, thought folks might be interested in something different for their walls.

Alexander Deyneka's 1937 painting of a man and his children watching a seaplane, something I'd think would look appropriate on the wall of a vintage beachside bungalow. Deyneka's better known for his DEFENSE OF SERVESTAPOL (1942)

Check out some of his other pre-WWII period work at http://www.deineka.ru/painting1930-1939.php
Warning:some full frontal nudity, a la Wyeth.
