Hi ladies,

I know that this has probably been covered before but I thought I would ask. Any recommendations for repro 1930s dresses and perhaps also separates as well?

My wife and I have traditionally done 1950s for our vintage since its easy for me to find in my size and also my wife loves the New Look style. However, lately I've been on this 1930s kick so I've been thinking about getting my gal a dress or two from the same period.

She has a few dresses from Stop Staring and Trashy Diva already so we are somewhat familly with those brands.

Many thanks in advance.

Have you had a look at Puttin' On The Ritz? They sell 1930s and 40s reproduction clothing, both dresses and separates. There are some very beautiful things to be found on their website. :)

In my opinion, no one does 30s wear, separates, trousers, dresses, skirts better than Mutsumi at allureoriginalstyles. Her seams are perfect and she knows her period. Everything I have bought from her has been money well spent. She doesn't have much on the site right now as I think she takes some time off in the summer, but it should be full again by autumn. My ultra picky husband was really impressed with the sailor jeans I ordered from her.

Thank you Drappa. Yes, she is and the 30s are her favourite right now. She also has a large collection of pattern. The clothes are custom made. So if you want something special or another color just drop her an email.

Once in a blue moon, Anthropologie gets 30s styles just right. I bought a black & floral flutter sleeved dress there that came with a matching slip (it even had the little shoulder snaps n' threads to hold your straps in place). Whenever I wear it, people are shocked to discover it's not vintage 30s.

I don't actively seek out vintage clothes, but when looking at my wardrobe I would say that it mirrors the 1930s more than any other decade. Silk Charmeuse material was popular on dresses so I would say that a calf length dress made of this material will give off a 1930s vibe.

"Time Machine" on Etsy may also be worth checking out: http://www.etsy.com/shop/timemachinevintage?ref=seller_info
There are quite a few 30s dresses (and - squee! - beach pajamas), and the prices are great as far as custom-made clothing goes. But I have to admit - I haven't ordered anything yet, although I am planning to give it a try as soon as my piggy-bank gets filled up. (And if someone here has, I'd love to hear all about it!)
Also, here is the Flickr set with a sample of finished work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/59761240@N05/sets/72157626695152598/

Ah ha! VintageBaroness beat me to it. I second NudeeDudee, and Allure Originals. :)
Also, Jitterbuggin has some cute clothes, but mostly 1940s. http://jitterbuggin.com/

The ones by Vecona are lovely! I had never heard of her.

Allure Originals are great. She has made me several 30s dresses now and the work she does is impeccable with an amazing cut and finish. Nudee Dudee is also amazing.
