Thought it would be fun to post y’all’s favorite jacket of all time. Whether or not you currently own, sold it or just dreamed of it. Maybe a quick description of why you love/loved it or regretfully past it along.

I always thought the Freewheelers San Mateo was the coolest jacket. I never thought I would be able to fit into it/pull it off and I couldn't justify the price. Then a used one in just the right size became available from a member here. It fits perfectly and I still think it's the coolest jacket I've ever seen.

You're not going to go first, jrolfe?

I came here through vintage pieces - my first leather jacket loves were jackets made for workers and riders and not so much for hipsters and cashed up collectors (and I have been in this camp too). I prefer older pieces with all their flaws and imperfections - which are almost as important as the design itself. So my favorite is the Brooks Sportswear Leather Shirt/Cafe Racer 511. I love the action back and the lack of side pockets, the light weight leather and easy charm of the thing. I've had several. My next favorite, which I have never owned, is a 1940's Californian Sportswear horse hide half-belt with full action back. Size 44 if anyone has a solid one. :D

Mine is an old Eddie Bauer cold weather work coat I bought new back around 2010. A tad oversized makes it great for layering, and it's overabundance of pockets let's me work in it with ease. It's corduroy lined, so not the warmest coat I own, but it's been worn every time the thermometer goes below 40° F, and has yet to show even a loose thread.

It's not my best fitting one but i find tht FW jackets are really special.
The leather, the craftsmanship, the construction details, they really are a step above, for me they set the bar.
My LW come after that as a group favourite.

What is my fav right now is my latest one and curious how its color would evolve into.
I dream of a crosszip perhaps dark green, perhaps black, perhaps dark red, and have a more shine finish, so far my jackets have duller matte finish since i liked it that way (collarless two angled chest pockets in matte leather) , so I want something totally opposite of what I thought I like.

I want a Himel Canuck in brown with that grey/black/green lining. I don't need one, though, and the prices are too high for me for an item of clothing. I'd only buy one used if I could shift other jackets I own as I've got too many and it's all a bit daft. The Aero Maxwell I have in Cordovan is probably my favourite jacket overall.

I’m in the same camp as Seb. Started with vintage stuff but always thought I needed something “better”. Have traveled full circle and I have to say, quite surprisingly, this HH Hercules is probably my all time favorite. This just feels like my jacket. Made for me 30 some years before I was born.

that looks perfect, lesson from this it takes at least 70 years for leather jacket to look right. so all new jacket here will probably looks right around year 2100
I can't imagine you pair it with converse though:eek:

I forgot you had that last one. Just what I needed to see this morning. Beautiful. It was Sugar Cane, correct?

Yep, Sugar Cane. That jacket was the best and if I had waited just a little, would've been perfect on me right now.

Man, jackets are hard. You can buy super expensive footwear for example and it almost makes sense. As long as your not a kid you’re not growing anymore. You spend 1,000 on some like shell Cordovan boots/shoes as crazy as 1,000 is for one pair...you’re not growing anymore. You take care of them and they can last forever. It’s hard enough to get a good fit with jackets. But to have them truly fit properly means if you gain or lose a few LBs and they don’t fit anymore. Such a gamble really.

Though probably noone outside these pages will ever obsess abouyt "proper" fit as much as we do! Heh.

Dream jackets? Got a list of my 'wants' from Aero as long as yer arm, still my 'go to' brand. Couple of the Hercules ones looking interesting, though my first treat I've promised myself for when I shift the weight will either be a pair of Aero Shackletons (with hopefully a hefty cotton drill back, to be worn when it's too hot for a full leather jacket), or those two Wested Indys I want (a new Raiders in goat, and a Temple in one of their heavier hides).

Fact. We are a special breed. The average person wouldn’t and couldn’t care less. Just something true. No one should pay the prices we do for the things we do haha. But at least with footwear it makes sense. You will never shrink or grow out of them. Jackets are a different story.

I somewhat disagree, shoes or boots is going to meet the road, salt, dogshit, puddle and every now and then it has to be resoled and stuff, and only peeking under your pants sure good shoes gives better support or looks good but it doesn't have to the most expensive to look good if you spend too much on it there might be chance you would walk differently avoiding puddles or giving too much attention to it, anything that you don't normally do. while jacket covers more than half your body totally in view to yourself and others and if fits it simply upgrades your entire look by 300% and gaining or losing weight is your freewill is not a fate. if I have a budget either for a new jacket or a new shoes, I would go for jacket in heartbeat:D
