This is a great thread!

Thanks for posting Von Sternberg and Dietrich. It has been said that for Von Sternberg "light and shade were the only essential properties of movie art. Story and script had no value at all." His movies with Dietrich were as important to their relationship as their off screen relationship was itself and were central to each other.

I thought it would be fitting to post a few pictures from those films as they has been the subject of discussion intermingled with their relationship.:)

Director Nicholas Ray and Gloria Grahame.

These two went through a bitter and acrimonious divorce, and years later, Gloria married her ex-husband's 21 year old son from a previous marriage!

Nice photos Connery! Thanks!

Fitzgerald, Hemingway and Picasso my idols of the past! (not that anybody cares, it's ok;))

Pablo being the passionate man that he was, had several women in his life, another of his women I also love is Françoise Gilot.

Now that we have started with Pablo Picasso.... it's so hard to pin them all down in one thread ....... all his women..... but.... here is another one Dora Maars the muse of French surrealists! When he left her, as it was expected from him, she went nuts [huh]

EDIT to add the portrait that he painted of her, of Dora .... he called it "Weeping Woman" 1937 [huh]

Yes! Fernande, his first love in Paris!

Marie Therese , French mistress and model of Pablo Picasso from 1927 to about 1935, and the mother of his daughter Maya. Their relationship began when she was seventeen years old; he was 45 and still living with his first wife, Olga Khokhlova. It ended when Picasso moved on to his next mistress, artist Dora Maar.
In 1977, four years after Picasso's death, Marie-Thérèse committed suicide by hanging herself in the garage at Juan-les-Pins, South of France.

Nice pictures of F. March! Thank you!!!

" Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy, a couple on screen and off.......... one of Hollywood's greatest cover-ups... rumor had it that they hated each other off-screen but the truth was that they were madly in love............. interference by studio boss Louis B. Mayer triggered a series of tragic events that caused them to self-destruct their film careers, health and ultimately their lives."
