Do you remember your favorite Easter outfit or dress?
Mine was a pistachio double chiffon with of course white shiny patent shoes, gloves and Easter hat. I was about 8.

I made my First Communion on Easter Sunday, 1968. I wore a white pique dress that was made for me by my beloved great-grandmother, Helen. It has a beautiful wide lace piece just above the waist and that had a pale pink velvet ribbon running through it, which tied in the back. I had little white gloves, white tights and white mary jane shoes. I also had a pink floral hat.

I still have the dress, gloves and hat :)

I don't remember Easter Dresses. I do remember pictures of an aqua blue coat and matching bonnet with pink, yellow, blue and green pastel french knots on the smocking and the hat. We have several pictures from that particular year because it's the year I tripped, fell and cracked the bridge of my nose open on a metal baseboard. My Mom thought it was cute to document my black eye!

I also remember my Grandfather buying Easter corsages for my Gram, my Mom and her two sisters. Gram got orchids, not sure what my Mom and Aunts got but he gave me a carnation with a bunny pinned to it! I thought I was the BOMB! LOL

He also went to a local chocolatier to get us candy. I always had a big chocolate egg with my name written on it. Inside the egg were little chocolates.

Do any of the Catholic girls remember Easter "procession"?

It was around 1972/73. We all purchased the same style dress from the school and each grade had it's own color. I was in first grade and we had a light seafoam green with a sheer puffy sleeves, white buttons down the bodice, a back tie bow and a pleated skirt with a lettuce edge. We had to get up at the butt crack of dawn to be at the church where we carried potted hyacinths as we "processioned" around the church. I loved that dress, the flowers smelled sooo good but the pots were heavy and I was just miserable because I was not (and am not) a morning child!

Inky...I'd like to see pics too!

Our daughters school put on a little Easter bonnet parade. They made their hats. ( of course some of the moms helped.;) :eusa_doh: )
It was so cute. I am going to see if I can find some photos of Easter dresses or such.

jessesgirl08 and 23SkidooWithYou - thank you for your interest. I was blessed that my mother keeps everything for me :) I'll try to find a picture of me in my little Easter outfit and I can definitely take a photo of the dress, hat and gloves for you this weekend!

I still have my First Communion dress, too, made by my mother. White dotted Swiss over light pink cotton, button down the front. It got recycled for Easter and all following summer functions, mostly because of all the work Mom put into it. Couldn't wear it only once! lol With it I wore my mother's wedding headpiece - a 5" tall crystal crown - with a shortened veil. Talk about making an 8 yr old feel like a princess!! With any luck, my daughter will be able to fit into the dress when she makes her First Communion.
