Favorite Christmas movies

I have A Christmas Story on VHS (3 different versions), HD DVD (before I realized it never caught on), 20th Anniversary, and now in Blue-Ray.
Don't know why, the movie ends the same each time.
I guess because each one has different "extras."

I like many of the Christmas movies here. One that isn't mentioned but was a childhood favourite is an obscure (and ultimately pretty awful) Canadian movie called The Christmas Martian:

I always considered myself lucky growing up as a child because I spent a lot of time with my grandparents and parents in front of the television (hope that doesnt sound too bad haha) but it allowed me to see the programs and movies they grew up with and watched. With that being said, I was always watching 'A Christmas Story' because my parents and other family members would watch it. On the other end of things, I grew up with Tim Allens 'Santa Claus' movies.

You know, they could have at least picked actors that LOOKED like the originals. This is just bad. That's a classic movie and tough to do a sequel on. They really could have done a lot better, and I haven't even watched the film at all.

As a fan of classic horror and thriller movies (50's-70's), I just couldn't bring myself to see the clip.

I liked Polar Express, a bit odd the way some of the characters had hollow eyes, but again I've seen a lot of zombie pics so it wasn't a shock to me.
Disney tried the same thing with A Christmas Carol, starring Jim Carey. I just couldn't get into it.

And I know that I'll probably burn in hell because of this but I honestly can't stand "It's A Wonderful Life." [huh]

Hi

I love Holiday Inn, but dislike White Xmas because it copied Holiday Inn. My kids like the Home alone series. My son watches them every Xmas season at some point. I've only seen each once, but we used to put the TV / VHS player between the front seats in the van and I HEARD both every year.

My girlfriend (at the time) and myself went to Madame Tussauds in Manhattan last December and watched Polar Express in 4D, what an amazing experience. The ground shook when the train came, snow flakes landed on you, your spine shivered when the cold breeze from a passing train hit you, I haven't experienced anything like it.

My favorite Christmas movies are the Rankin/Bass claymation ones; especially The Year Without A Santa Claus. The Miser brothers are Christmas classics. I also can't fail to mention How The Grinch Stole Christmas, with the inimitable Boris Karloff narrating.

Has anybody mentioned Die Hard?? And Die Hard II is set near Christmas as well and actually has snow. (Ain't it funny, that our culture only values snow and cold weather for about 5 weeks a year, and the moment Christmas is over it's back to "Too cold for me!! Brrr! I'm off to Aruba!")

I confess it:

I have never seen It's a Wonderful Life.

Ever.

It's a good fantasy film, even if you watch it in July. I've been doing a radio-on-stage production of it here for the last few Christmases, and I'm burned out on it -- but come this summer, I'd be glad to watch it again.

I've never seen A Christmas Story all the way through, either. WTBS plays it ALL CHRISTMAS DAY, over and over and over (on automation, I guess, so everybody can have the day off?), and yet I've never sat down and watched it from start to finish.

My family watches A Christmas Story though.
