Fav jeans for athletic builds?

Hi all,
I'm visiting Japan in the fall and researching Japanese denim brands so that I'm not spending all my vacation time in the Hinoya fitting room. I'm short with an athletic build (5'5, 23-inch thighs, and 15-inch calves) and prefer a jean with a medium-high waist, and loose thighs that go straight down so that I don't look like a carrot. I'm wondering if anyone has any favourite selvedge denim brands/fits that I should seek out while in Tokyo.

I tried Naked & Famous' True Guy fit as well as Freenote Cloth's Belford jeans. Both fit me really well but I want to hold out for Japan for a nice souvenir. Any reccos? I don't think I could splurge on a pair of Iron Hearts, but I'm open. Thanks in advance.

one of my favourite options in that style is the sugar cane 1947 (or the spin off Okinawa/Hawaii denim versions). Any of the repro cuts would probably work though - TCB 40s or 50s, Buzz Ricxkson waist overalls, full count 1101 or 1105. Samurai 510 could work, through the rise is a little lower.

I'll also add my two cents on jeans that work with muscular legs. For a relaxed tapered fit, Brave Star Strongman, Freenote Portola, Unbranded 621, and the Shockoe Atelier Standard.

Momotaro wide straight and the Graph Zero (GZ-15HRJ-0510NP) are nice options for a wider fit. I've been enjoying a wider fit for comfort lately.

TCB 40s or 50s

I owned a pair of TCB 50s, which had a real zipper. I loved that feature, and they are relatively inexpensive for Japanese denim. All that said, they were slow faders.
