Sorry I don't recognise either the Asian looking man or the skinny woman but both are an advert for not how to dress.
He, ill fitting suit, too long in the arms and legs of the trousers, though 2 points for remembering the lower button to be undone and it looks perfect across the shoulders. Maybe he's shrunk.
She, jacket too small, uncool looking due to too short in the arms, t shirt or whatever showing below waistband and those awful ripped out knee jeans. Couple the jeans with the boots and it almost looks like she is wearing a body stocking with holes in the toes. Do they buy the jeans pre ripped or do they come with a razor blade as an extra.
Ok, its only my opinion, humble or otherwise.

Her name is Zendaya, apparently a pretty big recording artist. At least she smiles a lot, even surrounded by body guards, unlike so many young stars!

She wears this jacket a bit better with the knits at her wrists, but how can anyone look cool wearing a T shirt featuring half of Tom Selleck's face!

Her jacket is obviously not Buzz Rickson, but it's surprisingly faithful rendition of an L2B jacket, including the snap tab over the zipper. As for fit, whatever.

It's not half a face, it's the stache. Tom's mustache has it's own Twitter account and it's own Face Book page. In fact, I just found out, he wanted to shave for his new TV show, the producers said under no circumstance can he shave. So, when you know the full story, the shirt is hysterical!

In the middle of Germany, they will never get a comeback as product for 20+fashion victims, because, they are still looking so proletarian and neonazi, for ever. A similar thing happened to the college-jacket, which was more or less killed by the 90's-"milieu".

I tell you, the authentic sneakers, which are just a timeless classic and sold well every year, can be very lucky, not to be a jacket!

Pop culture should never be looked down upon. Most of what we think of as high culture today, was once pop culture (i.e. Shakespeare).

Fascinating how that's changed.... a friend of mine, ex-forces, I remember years ago.... maybe around 2005?... complaining about new kit that had been issued. I think it was the "Soldier 2005" range it was called, a system of combat wear issued to forces (including the RAF), which was designed for everything to work together. He didn't care for the new gloves, not as good as the old, knit-cuff type (known colloquially as "Northern Ireland" gloves - I beleive they were first issued to troops headed there. Similar to the A10, but thicker lining, black, and with padded knuckles; early versions also had padded fingers). I asked him why he didn't just wear his old ones, as he still had them , and was told that they were obliged to wear the current gear on duty. Still, that wasn't in an era of war where there was a need to outfit many more people than the standing army, high demand and shortages.... Things might be different were that the case.

Reminds me of another friend, not long after we left school. He took to wearing MA1s back around 94, when you could still find them for beans in every army surplus store in town. He had a couple of them - one at least was an issue green, the other might have been black, which was the popular alternative at the time, made milspec by the same contractors. He had Chinese friends at university (his twin borther later married one) who all loved the MA1s, and they used to pester him all the time to wear it orange side out (as I recall, they really were fully reversible, pockets and everything). They really thought it would look cool that way. Course, this was Northern Ireland, where colour choice like orange and green matter.

Probably a fashion-cut. I noticed skimming past the fashion pages in the paper the other day that this sort of "military style" jacket is very much 'in' this season - whole double page spread on them. Over the last couple of Summers I've seen that a lot of women's clothing in general, including jackets of all sorts - nylon, leather, you name it... - have this sort of half or three-quarter-length sleeves. Looks wrong to my eye, but that's fashion for you.

It's such a simple jacket, it's not hard to get it right.... which is why I wish somebody cheaper than Buzz would do a nice, L2A spec version. The Buzz one is gorgeous, but I just can't bring myself to spend GBP400 plus on a nylon windbreaker!

I remember them being big in the UK, or Northenr Ireland, at least, in the early eighties. Thenat the end of the decade, they had a comback - though exclusively in black - with, of all people, boyband Bros. I recall a lot of little girls wearing black MA1 style jackets, many with (cheap and nasty looking) screen prints of Bros, Kylie Minogue, and such on the back. Always really cheap looking jackets, too. Put me off the style for a very long time. It did have its long associations with skinheads here too at a time, a movement which sadly has become stereotyped with the far-right minority. Thankfully that association is dying as the generic style has come in and out of fashion a few times in the last decade. Good for me, especially as I shave my head. Don't want to be taken for a fascist.... !

Eh, not really. They're popular figures for the kids, and we're mostly old farts. Also, there's the fragmentation of modern pop culture, with the web and everything else - it's so much easier now to bypass the mainstream than ever it was before, simply because you have so many, readily accessible alternatives. Which is healthy.

Oh, to have a peak into the future, two hundred years or so....
