Facebook anybody?

Another rant.. in the last few days I've gotten 3 add requests without so much as "hello I'm so-n-so" notes, nothing at all. 2 friends of friends and one total stranger. Can't view profiles at all. So here's to the IGNORE button!

The biggest problem with facebook are those folks that just want the biggest number of "friends" - but don't make any effort to talk, exchange ideas, etc. With these, the "ignore" is really the best button in world!

Very true. This year I whittled-down my friends-list to about 70 people, because I really didn't need to see the duck-faced bar-photos or read the melodramatic statuses of 'acquaintances'. I'm still tickled by the fact that our current lives have an 'edit friends' feature.

By the way, rue, I dig the Gracie Allen quote - should you happen to read this.

I'm afraid I am ALWAYS on FB. I am part of a little community of friends who are all housewifes with young children and, like me, don't get out much so it's a great way of having adult conversations without the palava of visiting. I don't have many vintage-loving friends to share with so please feel free to add me, all friend requests will be delightfully received I'm under George Harris and it's the same picture as I have here.

Bahaha...funny story...it turns out I was mailed a book-on-tape version narrated by George and interspersed with some of their routines. I have yet to dig my Crosley out of storage to listen to it. I have watched quite a few of their sketches, though : )

I thought they replaced the "Ignore" feature with the less-offensive title of "Not Now"... We wouldn't want to offend our mouth-breathing stalkers, now, would we?

They did, now how in the world do you get rid of the requests you don't want to have to look at again later?

They ask that you provide your "real" name bit there's no checking. Use a nickname or make up a second or third for as many FB accounts as you want.

Yep, I recently opened an account for an obviously fictitious gent who just celebrated his 105th birthday. No problemo....

Yes, i am on FB daily, although i do it strictly through my phone as i do not have the internet at home *gasp* and i cannot FB at work. feel free to add me, as i have no one on my FB that shares my love of the golden era. I am also in a race with my sister as to who can get 100 FB friends first. lol i am at jesseandamandamolina (the name was just to keep creepy guys looking to flirt away:whip:-i used mine and my hubbys name)

At least I am no longer the only person I know with no internet at the house! I don't own a television either. (I rather enjoy the expressions of horror on the faces of small children when I tell them that.)

I imagine we'll all be on the latest best thing. Goldman Sachs has a ludicrous amount of faith in the company, but the users are growing wary of a never ending line of privacy concerns. How Facebook fares in the future is anybody's guess. Their partnership with Zynga Games will keep them going for the foreseeable future, at least. Farmville and the other social games have a massive fanbase.

I'm sure you've already heard the scoop on those games (child-neglect due to parental obsession). One woman shook her baby to death because he wouldn't stop screaming during her Farmville session, and a Korean couple let their infant daughter starve to death because they were too busy raising a virtual baby.

We love our irony.
