As an added note about facebook, they have been sued recently for their "spying" activity into you and your life....if you are a customer, of course.

Oh don't get me started on facebook and privacy! Hardly anyone realizes that when you upload a photo it becomes their property. Even when you delete your account, they keep your photos in a database. Grrrr. I just say 'be careful what you post.'

What are they going to do with pictures of me? Scare thier children? If they can find a use...good for FB.

Speaking of pictures, like the new avatar BD.

I would think you wearing suits and ties and hats, they would find a use for your pictures in a commercial way, upscale photos of high rollers at a new casino opening, something like that!

Again, good for them. However it's not so simple. They cannot use my photo for commercial purposes without my "express consent". Which is not the same as agreeing to their terms of service. Stories like that are from scare mongers or uninformed souls looking for the worst possible scenerio. Be informed, that's your best defense.

Yes, there are all of those things...and all of them here as well. Be aware of what you post where. If you don't want the cops to know you're a drug dealer dont post it online...or better still, just don't be one. I find the fear of "big brother" to be a big bother.

I refuse to live my life in fear of someone somewhere maybe possibly knowing something about me sorta.

Shoot..I've been on Facebook for several years...Along with family..friends and classmates from all over the US. I've never known of any of them having problems except for Facebook's occasional somewhat aggravating change of format. The security aspect pops up from time to time..but like you say JB...even photos posted here do pop up all over the web. Some just don't like the idea of FB..yet they will post on certain forums every day without a second thought. Some would rather be more sensative about personal info..while others prefer to reveal themselves for who..and what they are to share much of their real life with others. On Facebook you can restrict your profile to only friends..or have it open(visible)to the public. You can delete any friend..or response you deem inappropiate. However..I don't need to defend FB. Nothing is perfect. Misinformation and wild accusations only mislead, though. I have little to hide. I don't put banking info...specific location...etc on the web..simply because it's nobodie's business but mine...since I can still reveal it when necessary in person when needed.

I didn't read half of what y'all wrote, but to me facebook is silly. My husband and daughter have accounts and I don't, so I only hear about it from them. All I've been told is that people talk about what their cat/dog did or that they have some weird drama involving some soccer mom or that someone is cheating on someone. I seriously don't get it [huh]

It's a lot more fun if you have fun friends.

I have visited hundreds of FB pages belonging to family, friends, acquaintances, businesses, etc......and few of them are very active outside of friending activity. One of my nephews is in college and has over 2,000 friends but not one conversation with any of them. Am I missing something?
