blaming the future end of the world on gay men
Not at all......

Initial closing in the 80's was an example of how a panicked public blamed gays for HIV. It would be the same today, if all Chinese restaurants were boarded up.

As a society, we need to be a part of the solution. Not blaming people for the problem. And we must do everything we can to help those who are in need. This is our chance, as a society and as an individual, to rise. Public service volunteer work could be global. Not just virus related. If you can't do anything about the virus, and most cannot, we could also address poverty and famine. Good time to think about who, in the 3rd world countries, are in more need than us.

So you are blaming the future end of the world on gay men, nice!
Your posts read very weirdly...

What about straight bars and brothels? Are they Ok or will they also cause the end of the world?

I think this has been lost in translation. Bathhouses in the Far East aren't specific to the gay community the way they are here.

Going to any type of bathhouse at this point in time is an unnecessary risk.

I got some free time today. So 5150 started up the F-150, and drove it for the first time in weeks. I used my homemade face mask (balaclava). Everywhere I went, there was an uneasy tension. People acted like I was there to rob them. Security cameras turned to focus on me. And all that I wanted was some Chinese food. Just trying to spend a little money to stimulate the local economy. You need to relax. Maybe a sauna or something. Might be a better use of time than taking pictures of ribs through the windows of privately-owned businesses while wearing a ski mask, particularly when Chinese communities are on edge. People might get the wrong idea and presume that you very much are trying to cause upset.

While that char siu pork looks interesting, you are very brave to shop around with balaclava in your trigger ready society.

Why do we need pictures of yellow plastic jackets in threads about "leather creasing, fading, and character" and pictures of char siu pork in threads about face masks?
I'm all for a good thread derail once in a while but this is confusing...

'Everyone else is wearing black surgical mask, like they are ready to root on the streets of Hong Kong'

I used to live in Hong Kong. What are you talking about rooting for? What are the bath house references in aid of? What's with all the pictures?

Your posts are off.

Now we have to wear them!

Los Angeles mayor tells 4 million to wear masks
The mayor of Los Angeles is urging 4 million residents to wear masks to combat the coronavirus when they're in public, while state health officials are shying away from requiring a coverup

Clothing companies must be deputized to switch to making masks under the Defense Production Act. The US Government has not been aggressive enough in my opinion. Oh wait, clothing companies production facilities are all in China or Bangladesh. Never mind... The bill for globalization has arrived, and must be paid.

Not so much globalization as a business model based on paying cheaper labor off shore whilst failing to invest in domestic workers and infrastructure. And let's face it, as customers most if us want to pay less for things, hence more off shore manufacturing.

This is what future generations remember 2020, 80s remembered by their shoulder pads, 90s by baggy pants, 00 by skinny jeans barely covering the crotch, 10 by hipster lumberjack, 20 by facemask

Still can't find any.
Population density has a lot to do with this - in Asia, you're wearing a mask so that you don't cough on to other people. If everyone does this then hopefully transmission is reduced because you're not coughing as much of/any illness through the material (depending, of course, on what it's made of) in the confines of very tightly-packed cities. In HK, for example, you might have five people living in a space that one person would find small in a Western country. Most folks try to be pretty careful when out and about - it's crowded outside, it's humid and it's packed inside. More space and air movement, and it's a bit different.

If you're not in close urban confines, as long as you're distancing 2m from others that you don't live with (and provided they're doing the same when they go out) the hand-washing and bleaching of surfaces should hopefully keep you safe from infection. It's not a cause for undue panic if you can't get a mask as long as you're 'distanced', etc.

bandana and scarf is probably enough, put some tissue paper underneath if you feel inadequate, and a lot cooler than face mask, they say this virus particle is big and not airborne anyway.

If someone sneezes or coughs, it can live in an airborne state for 3 hours. The hope is that un-masked, one doesn't walk through the Coronavirus cloud.

Not only that, when an infected person merely talks, the aerosol stays airborne for 3 hours. The fact that the US Government did not recommend early on that people wear masks is madness. Likewise, it is madness that hydroxychloroquine and Zithromax are not being prescribed wider in the US. There is enough evidence that they prevent the disease from progressing to the point of needing oxygen or ventilator. They are only being prescribed to severe cases where they are not as effective. US is bungling it big-time.
