This is way out of my budget range, but there are some incredible items in this auction:

"Through a series of auctions presented by Profiles in History, stage and
screen star Debbie Reynolds will sell a massive amount of her iconic
Hollywood memorabilia including costumes and props from years of
Hollywood history. Beginning June 18 in Beverly Hills, this auction
offers an enormous collection including: Elizabeth Taylor and Richard
Burton's "Cleopatra" costumes; Marilyn Monroe's iconic white "subway
dress" from "The Seven-Year Itch"; Julie Andrews' peasant dress and
guitar from "The Sound of Music"; Charlie Chaplin's "Tramp character"
signature bowler hat; Gene Kelly's suit from the signature musical
number in "Singin' in the Rain"; Judy Garland's original blue-and-white
gingham dress/blouse from the first two weeks of filming "The Wizard of
Oz," along with a pair of ruby slippers.

Isn't it sad? She so wanted to start a Movie Museum. I was so surprised she couldn't pull it off. It would be such an obvious choice for Hollywood, and an obvious tourist draw. She's had the stuff in storage for decades. Stuff that would have been thrown out or just disappear in the props and costume departments. You would really think the studios, the city of Hollywood, the actors, directors etc could have come up with someplace to display the stuff. I saw some of the pieces in the casino she owned in Las Vegas. It all looked brand new. What a shame it's not going to be all in one place for us all to see.

It is odd that she couldn't a museum going and even more so that the film industry is without one.

Glad to see that it's posted elsewhere. The pdf (or the actual print catalog) is a must-have reference for anyone with an interest in vintage fashion and/or classic movies. I think that would prolly cover most of us here at the Lounge.
