Hello all, here we have a rare one out of my own private collection. The USN / USAAF AN-6552 flight jacket. These were made for less than a year in 1943 as a joint services replacement for the A-2 / M-422 flight jackets. The program did not succeed but a few of the jackets were made and issued during WWII. This is one of the survivors. It is missing the spec tag but the pocket shape, cut, Blackened Talon Zip, and collar shape, are firm evidence that is was made by Willis & Geiger. The US painted in silver on the collar marks it as a joint services jacket.
This jacket displays some of the most impressive grain I have seen. The hide is rock solid and can be worn worry free. All the parts are intact and functioning. The knits and liner were replaced at some point with the correct materials. The mouton collar is wearing thin in a few areas, but is still intact and has faded to a nice blond honey color.
I believe this jacket to be a size 40. Here are the measurements
Chest 21" - Shoulders 18 1/2" - Arms 24 1/2" - Length 25 1/4"
Price is $500 Free shipping!
I will try to get some natural light pictures but its raining hard here now so the may have to wait.
Regards,
Jay
