Eyelets with ribbon rather than leather band?

Hey conversion folks! Have you ever seen a "rancher" style hat with eyelets reshaped into a teardrop with a ribbon band replacing the leather strap? Did the look work?

Huh. I never even thought about the combo, to tell the truth. I'd be inclined to say no, but maybe if I saw an example it might not be so bad in reality.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but I think it would work.
Here is a straw Dobbs that Major Moore put 'eyelets' in. It worked well this summer.

Thanks for the replies guys, the pics help. Decent used hats are hard to come by in 7 5/8 or 7 3/4, at least within my limited budget. I'd like to have gray and tan-medium brown knock around winter hats and I'm thinking I might convert a western to something less cowboy but not quite fedora. I've passed on a couple because they had eyelets and my pea brain started thinking it just might work.

I think the key is to keep the eyelets out of the front dents. If you do that the hat will look just fine.
