I hate to ask but I found another houndtooth coat. Is it classic or dated (but not in the good way)? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated! It is a Facconable, made in Italy, and double vented.

I like it. It can definitely be incorporated into a classic wardrobe -- especially with those high set lapels.

Nod to Orgetorix -- It looks like it was cut to roll the top button into the lapels. That top button is screaming to be undone -- it'd balance the coat a little more.

I like it, great waist suppression. I'd leave the top button alone and unbutton the bottom...but then I'm just a country boy too....:p

Bought the coat for $60!

This is a spring/summer item isn't it?

I have never had such a colorful houndstooth coat before though I have seen old Hollywood stars in them.

Thanks for all the opinons.

I more keep looking at this coat, the more I keep seeing it as a three button that's not meant to act like a three button. More specifically, meant to exclusively button the center button. You get a more defined shape to the coat (shoulder to waist to hip flow) while getting a fuller fabric front (from the 3 button pattern).

But that's just how I'd wear it -- of course, it's all personal.

I rarely button the top button on a 3 button coat. And it's that more defined shape is why I love Italian coats.

So the coat has arrived! BUT.....the guy measured the sleeves and the length from spots other the way we all measure coats! He noted it on the decription of where it was measured from but I didn't look at that - just the numbers! STOOPID ME!

So the coat is about an inch too short in the arms and the length. Otherwise, it looks great and fit perfectly in the shoulders and chest!

Classic pattern.

I like the coat. It has a terrific pattern. You should be able to lengthen the left sleeve. The right sleeve is already longer then the left, so I don't know how much you'll be able to lengthen it. As far as coat length is concerned, some brands leave a little extra so that you can lengthen it a little. Usually the most that you'll get is 1/2'' on back, and 1/4 in the front.
By the way, I think that I own that exact tie that's featured with your new jacket. Did they give that to you? Here's what the tie looks like in full. I never wear it if you want it, let me know.
