My first leather jacket was a stock M-200L from Johnson Leather. Alan helped me select the jacket and he was very patient and helpful, taking time to answer all my questions and making sure I got the jacket I wanted.
A few months later I had them make me a custom M-200L using brown CXL steerhide I purchased from Horween (Tannery Row). Again I found Alan to be a good guy to work with on my first custom jacket project.
If I could offer you one piece of advice it would be this: listen to Alan! I was so excited about the process of creating this jacket that I went overboard and insisted on some things (primaloft insulation for one) that I now regret. I have ordered a couple custom jackets since then and I have learned not to try to reinvent the wheel. Ask Alan what he thinks, and follow his advice. Johnson Leather has almost 40 years of experience making jackets and I'm sure they will make a nice one for you.
This exactly. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

I had that model. Can't remember who I sold it to, Ton I think?? and I attribute that to the trauma of the sale lol.

It was the M-500 I believe. Ran true to size, with a tad bit of room. I want my old one back. So much. I've sold spectactular jackets but that one was marriage material.

Here she was. I hate to think she's with another man at this very moment getting creased. I need therapy.

It was me Nick! I sold it along to another member here. The sleeves were just too long, which you had warned me about.

I just sent them a question via email. Wondering if they can remove 1.5" from the shoulder of my new Cockpit A-2. If they can, and it won't break the bank, I'll have them do it.

You won't regret it. And as said above, listen to Alan. My first jacket with them, I went overboard too, I asked for such a tight fit, it doesn't fit anymore now that I gained a few pounds. Alan asked twice about it, I insisted, dang, done. He knew better and I should have listened. Now my 16 year old brother is wearing that one.

I'm sure he appreciates it!

Alan and Johnson Leathers produce some truly amazing stuff!!! They have access to some really incredible hides and they are an absolute pleasure to work with. JL will provide a fit jacket to work off and get you exactly wang you want in a timely manner. My jacket was literally in my hands the very day it was promised. Here's a couple pics, CXL 4oz overdye. It's really sublime stuff. Super heavy but softens quite quickly, especially in the sleeves.

Ton, this jacket is king phenomenal. The only conceivable way to improve it in my eyes would be if it buttoned up.

I have the N-200 on order and it should be arriving next week. We were able to visit the store last month, so ordering was a breeze. Alan was great to work with and allowed me to try on at least 1/2 dozen jackets. There were lots of options in the store, so if you are in the area it's definitely worth a visit.

So it begins... down payment made. Should have the fit jacket next week. Alan is going to make me a D-pocket similar to a Buco J-24, but with a few custom adjustments. Went with 3.25-3.5 SFPD black leather and satin lining. All silver hardware. Now the long 8-ish week wait.

Me thinks you'll have it sooner. Mine came to my door exactly on the date it was promised. Can't wait to see it. Please post it up!

You're making me jealous with all these acquisitions!
Oh man I have to cool my jets. This one I've been after tho. Used to have the original raider by Vanson and the TB is an improvement on all the things I wanted in that jacket. I'm done. Need to hock a few to justify as well!
