I bought mine from my dad when I was 17. Base car with inline 6 and a 3 on the tree. Well, that had to go, and in went a low-mile 68 327 and a low mile 89 TH400 tranny. I took everything apart, new gaskets, cleaned it up, etc. Got the stuff in the car, all repainted, the whole engine bay looked like new, and looked stock, but had a lot more giddy-up-go than that stock set-up. As time went on, I kept sinking more and more money into it, and when you're in High School and making 8.00 or so an hour, that money goes fast.

Anyways, one day, I got fed up with the whole project and car building in general, and sold my whole stockade of wheels, engines, trannies, parts, and the car. I had a small salvage yard going in my parents' woods and my dad wasn't too thrilled with it, so it was best to rid of all the stuff. I came out $1,000 ahead which is big money at 18 years old, so I was alright. I bought the 63 a few months later lol Can't get the car bug out of me no mater how hard I try. Sorry to rant.

You scare pretty easily.

Having a 58 would be wild, but I wouldn't get rid of mine for something else. I have a die cast 58 with black paint and red interior

The only downer about my 327 is it heats up more than the 283 did. Even with the six blade Summit Racing fan at the front it'll go up up on the temp. dial if you sit for a minute.

I prefer the 283 to the 327. A reliable little motor with an impressive amount of torque. They run forever, get good mileage, and are Chevy's workhorse. My favorite of their small blocks.

Yeah, but I'll take more cubic inches. Dual exhaust and an Edelbrock carb to the original set up which lacked get up and go power. Livin the dream.

Oh yes, Canada has a very nice Navy, maybe not as large of the US, but it is there! A picture I took of friends while on a Canadian Navy Ship.

The funny thing about my boyfriend's unit, H.M.C.S. Star, is that the ship doesn't actually exist lol If they ever need to, they can borrow the H.M.C.S. Haida, which is right next door. An impressive looking ship.

Oh lord, video games are way past my thought process! I do think some folks get caught up into being on a video game and from what I understand, those games and all the goodies you need to play them are not cheap priced!

What ever happened to getting a 2 dollar deck of cards and sitting down to play a good game of "Rummy"?

Me too, and with real cards! I once got into a euchre tournament and beat the pants off the other players, who were all a good 20 years my senior

My Grandma Edith played Pinochle every weekend with my Grandpa Mike and the neighbors. Then they "replayed it all week". Grandma played solitaire all day every day during the rest of the week. She died at 92 in 1986 just before her 93rd birthday. She would have hated the new electronic Solitaire games cause you can't cheat or look ahead.

I used a cheat sheet. I couldn't play with Grandpa Mike (in spite of being named for him). He was SERIOUS about it. If I ran out of Ace's, and Kings I would lead nines which is the wrong signal. Darned if I know what the right signal was.
