Excessive posting? ... Interesting.....

Windows 7 was a good platform, and wasn't too different from XP. Now almost everything comes with Windows 8, which is a bit different from Windows 7 but not so drastically different that it makes you want to hit someone with a blunt object. I was forced to get a new laptop last month, going from Windows 7 to 8, and after the drudgery of doing all of the initial set-up nonsense it took maybe a day to get used to it. [huh]

I am running Windows 7 now. Not a huge conversion from XP. She should be just fine. No big deal.

Should have saved money and hired Paralegals. ;)
I am actually amazed... I thought Mr. Powers would be all for hiring a parale of gals to be around....

I have been looking at computers, (on line) and so far I see a few that are not so badly priced for under $400.00 and they have the windows 7 on them. I have found two sources, walmarts and best buy. However, I also notice a lot of those "deals" are for refurbished computers. Some reviews on refurbished computers say they have some left over files and issues with missing parts of files (some erased) that surface and may cause an issue with the new program files on the computer...sort of some things left behind that may create havoc with a new owner....

I have to wonder, why the computer manufacturers even wanted to end windows xp? But then earlier I was seeing some new phones they have been working on, that you "upgrade" by swapping out parts right in the back of the phone itself....looks like it just plugs new upgraded parts so you can have a better camera or processor, screen, etc. Kind of like a leggo type thing..now they should do this with computers. Unplug one component and plug a new one in...just like that.

I could live with 8 as well. The junk one here at work is still using XP.
When they closed the facility where I last worked in December of 2005 we still had one standalone workstation with a DOS-based version of Windows, and that particular workstation required a boot disk. lol We didn't use it often, but it still worked.

You know many people who work at places...actually NEED a "Boot" disk er um....to start working....lol! (or is it just the "boot"...?) lol

I've heard fairly bad things about the Window's 8, I think getting the 7 is going to be much better for us. My work computer has the 7 on it, but it is not "online" as it just networks with other computers. A small Dell business CPU.

Or they'll "get the boot" if they don't start working. ;)

lol I've never used Vista myself (skipped straight from XP to 7) but, based on what I've heard from those who have, I'd say it was a big misstep for Microsoft; I don't know one person who liked it.
