I think once the AL jackets start appearing--like the one today!--discussion will turn to the jackets....and sooner or later we will all be not unhappy that there are more jacket-makers/companies/designs out there....whichever you favor or don't or whatever reasons. After all, we've had discussion of jacket features and designs and wearability....but also, as I remember, business/customer-relation practices of many companies over time....LW, Langlitz, US Authentic, Eastman, G&B, Goodwear, and others large-and-corporate or small-and-artisan....both pro and con.

Let's try and avoid muddying the waters of this mess further with comments that could potentially drag this site into the legal morass which currently exists.

Yes, let's not make this thread contentious as was the prior thread Feraud shut down. As he said, he didn't want to waste his time moderating the comments. I well know the time involved when posters get a bit unruly and require close moderation. He is the one in charge, so let's do as he says and keep this thread open.

I'm a huge believer in a moderator's "right" to delete/ban/censor/whatever threads. They are the one who is devoting their time to the job.
Having said that, I am also a huge believer in open discourse, and the questioning of censorship...as long as it is polite.
As with the boundary between any immoveable object and irresistible force, there is bound to be some clashing.

OK. Yeah, so there are lots of leather companies all producing "similar" vintage designs. But let's use a little empathy here. Put yourself in someone else's place.

Let's say that YOU have spent the last 30 years building a company, training staff along the way, and making a product that folks love. And then a bunch of those staff that you trained decide to up sticks, get some financial backing, and then start copying your product, just down the road.

Don't you think that YOU would feel a little cheated? And don't you think that the financial backer would be laughing up his sleeve to read that you guys don't really care who makes the stuff?

Obviously, the foregoing is just an example, and refers to NO particular company.

But I, for one, care about what Ken has done for leather jackets in the UK. Many on here couldn't give a sh*t.

I feel ashamed of you. As ever, just a personal view

Well I'm a common worker and think in that mindset. If I was working in a certain company for so many years I would only leave it to better my situation.

Well there is constant bad mouthing of the company these workers moved to which in turn is bad mouthing these employees.

I just don't see the point in constantly bring this situation of what has happened until all information is at hand. The thread now is trying to get on course and you bring up things that basically got the other thread closed.

Like I said, wait for the court case. There are alot of facts regarding this case that folks, like your goodself, do not yet know.

Comparing the situation between Aero and Alexander with Nazi Germany's occupation of Norway would be pretty funny if it weren't so offensive.
Perhaps the U.S. "liberating" Panama from Colombia in order to help it construct the Panama Canal would be a more appropriate analogy?
Perhaps Alexander is to Aero what George Washington was to King George III? Castro to Bautista? Robespierre to Louis XVI? Fletcher Christian to Captain Bligh?

Maybe the folks at Alexander just wanted to run their own ship and provide better service to their customers. Or maybe not. We don't know the details, do we?

Yep, I do get why Aero may not be happy, but they can speak for themselves on the matter, and do. Very well, from what I have observed these last weeks. As to your remark equating empathy with fairness: How do you feel Manet felt about Monet, Adidas about Nike, not to mention the 50 kinds of Greek yogurt now on the market thanks to Oikos, or the 100 kinds of jeans with a Levi 1947 cut. While Aero may or may not be happy "at the moment," they seem relatively happier than you are "in the moment."
