Evans Lift Arm Lighter/Cigarette Case

I purchased an Evans lighter and cigarette holder combo yesterday at a local antique shop and trying to get more info on it as well as instructions on how to change the wick (if it can even be done). The tag on it said it was a 1920's but as I did research in the shop I believe it to be somewhere in the late 30's (could be wrong). From what I read, Evans did not even start making lighters until 1928. Mine is a Evans Trig-A-Lite. Here is a link to one exactly like mine (I can post some of the actual one sitting here now). http://www.musclecars.net/parts/EVA...H-ART-DECO-PATTERN-For-Sale_110655138938.html

Any information on it would be GREATLY appreciated as well as if the wick can be changed out. I threw new flint in it, some Zippo fluid and I cannot get the wick to catch a spark and light. If you strike it 20 times, it will light 1 or 2 times. It acts as if the wick is not long enough and close enough to the spark.

Thanks a lot in advance!

I'd like to bump this thread to the top. I still have not found out how to change the wick on it and would really like to get it working again.
Thanks again for any help here!

Pull the wick up w/ a pair of needle nose... make sure the cotton fuel supply is full so the wick will have something to "wick".

I see to recall there there is a screw to be undone to fill/soak the fuel storage area and if you remove the cotton bit that holds the fuel you can get to the underside of the lighter. At that point you should be able to remove the old & shove a new wick up through the hole.

Pretty much like any old liquid fuel lighter, if I remember right. See: Lighter filling
