Hi,

I guess You can help me. I would like to find some decent shoes like (again I guess) Redwings. For me the durability is most important and of course they should be made of leather. I do not intend to buy them from the other side of ocean, You know customs, handling, shipping, etc. So do You have any suggestions about EU made shoes?

Thank You

If you like RedWings, it's worth keeping an eye on them on sale. They do tend to be pricey here in the UK (and elsewhere in the EU), but I picked my Iron Rangers up on sale for about half price. Otherwise, you could try looking ta some of the English shoemakers. Are you looking for boots specifically (sounds like it, given you reference RedWing)? If so, William Lennon are well worth looking into:

Alternatively, there's Aero's Jarrow Boot, which is available with either Dainite or leather sole, and in black, brown or cordovan, or for something perhaps more refined their Glace Kid Black Brogue Boot:

Otherwise, the big Northampton names in traditional boots and shoes are worth a gander - Trickers at the top of the tree (but lethally expensive!), though I have a lot of love for Grenson and Barker.

You'll pay a bit for shipping to where you are, but as they're within the EU you'll not be stiffed for the dreaded import tax and VAT.

Definitely William Lennon. They'll do mods too at low or no cost. I have two pairs and think they're better than my Iron Rangers, although heavier. Much more solid and chunky.

If you have more money to spend, I consider Trickers to be the best of all, with many variants of their Stow boots available in different retailers, who seem to get one-off specials made.

Here's my two Lennon's. Both are Derby, modded with my choice of leather, leather linings and commando soles. Standard is leather soles, but there's no charge to change. I got commando for the rain, but they've since said they'd do Dainite as a special order, which I'd prefer in future. They only cost £175 modded, which I think was an absolute bargain, especially when you see them in real life. As long as you like chunky boots, that is. The burgundy is a perfect match for Aero's cordovan, by the way.

simonc here and maybe Dav got really nice modded officer's boots from them too.

The 'Hoggs of Fife' shepherds boots are sort of cool:
