Erase writing on Lewis Leathers patch

Hi guys,

I've tried to find this information via the search function but since i did not find what I was looking for maybe one of you guys can help me:

I haven't finally decided whether I'm actually going to do it but if I wanted to get rid of the writing on the LL patch, is there a way to remove it without damaging the leather?
I don't want to remove the patch as such but I think the jacket will look even better when totally blacked.

Thanks in advance!

If you remove the writing from the patch you will devalue the jacket in the eyes of many potential buyers should you decide to sell it at some future point. Apart from that it’s your jacket so your choice. I’ve removed similar writing from similar patches by rubbing gently with a lint free cloth damped with chrome cleaner and then using renovating shoe polish to replace any dye loss and shine.

If you just wear the jacket it will fade pretty fast.
My GF has a LL 445 that is 5 years old and has been worn quite a bit and you can barely see the gold Lewis Leathers anymore.
You see it if you put your face on it, but from a few meters away it is pretty much invisible.

The go-to I remember for this sort of thing was always a dab of nail polish remover on a cloth, and then shoe-polish thereafter if it needed 're-blacked' a bit. That said, Carlos is right - wear it often enough, and the gold lettering will disappear to all but the closest of inspections.

Hello Herresbach,
You could always paint it out, if you’re artistically inclined. First employ a light sanding to remove the top layer and to get some “tooth” on the leather, then paint over with some artist acrylic paint that is carefully matched to the correct shade- and, once dried, do the same with a top layer of Matt /satin/gloss varnish to blend in the sheen and finish of the surrounding jacket. It’s tricky but can be done and will render a near flawless result. Just an option to ponder...
Good luck.

Well, I‘m not really artistically gifted so I‘ll go for wearing the jacket A LOT, I guess.
Since it‘s supposed to be my grab and go jacket that should work out fine.

Still annoying in my opinion that Lewis won‘t make the jacket without the patch. I understand it‘s for separating their jackets from similar looking jackets from other makers but the eye catching patch is the biggest downside on LL jackets for me.

I actually don’t mind the patch. It’s an eccentricity of the brand. Those who know, know. And those who don’t... Well, that’s the thing about a Lewis. Your jacket is so damn good-looking, nobody will even notice the patch.

The only way to get the jacket without a logo patch is to order custom through their London shop.
I think you have chosen wisely to just wear it - a lot.
