Enough with the logos

I object to putting any advertisements on my body unless I'm gettin' PAID.

Does a GAP logo on a pair of pants indicate class or quality? Hardly.
Hard to believe in anything.

I think I wouldn't believe in anything anymore if it weren't for my Dick Tracy Lucky Astrology Mood Watch.

I'll ask everyone else now: Has anyone been able to find new quality sunglasses that don't have a logo on the arms or lens?

I would answer "No". I tried and could not. So, I found vintage Ray-Ban on eBay and had the lenses replaced.

As for the monogram on the shirt, the answer is also "No". There is something unctuous about those who wear them especially with contrasting white cuffs and collars - way too Eighties!

I knew this would be a good thread, Matt, but not much to argue about in this forum, is there? I'll ask everyone else now: Has anyone been able to find new quality sunglasses that don't have a logo on the arms or lens?

Yes I have. I think it was early last year when I came across a pair by Calvin Klein: round silver frames with beautiful engraved details and dark grey lenses. Very vintage-looking, and the only place the manufacturers name appears is on the inside of one arm, in type so small you have you really look for it.

And they were on sale!

There is the other extreme of logos... Willie Brown, former mayor of San Francisco has a particular pin-stripe Brioni suit. If one examines the stripes closely, you would see that the woven stripes repeat his name.

Haversack - who doesn't care to advertise.

It sounds like we agree for the most part

I'm amazed at t-shirts with a large NIKE logo selling for more than a regular shirt.
A friend of mine needed a cap a while and found that a custom embroided one cost only slightly more than one with a company logo. I designed a Hidalgo Trading Co. logo, he had it put on and now has a cap that means something personal instead of someone's corporation.
I tried to explain to a young man that usually if you advertise for someone they pay you, you don't for the "privilege".
On that not how about people buying bicycling shirts with the company logos printed on them? A professional becomes a billboard for sponsors, the others look like posers.

Yes, definately,.....

The addition of an unnecessary company logo has ruined many a potential clothing purchase for me! Also I have seen some shirts that looked good when hidden in the rack amongst others, but when I pull them out I am horrified to see a large embroidered design on the shirt front!
I am almost a complete minimalist when it comes to what I wear. Less is more. (I mean as to colors, design, etc.:) )
Quiet understatement says so much more than anything inelegant and loud.

Might as well just get a bowling shirt. :)
