Some years back, before I knew the difference between wool hats and fur felts (which a lot of people don't know, by the way), I had at hat like that. I gave it away because I did not like the way it looked on me.

I think I got it out of an Eddie Bauer catalog and I believe that hat was called "Dakota."

It was a start, and I now wear mostly fur felts. However, I had to evolve to that, and maybe the wearer of that hat will do so, too, if he is able to evolve. Some folks aren't. Or some folks can't afford it. I doubt that is a problem with this particular hat-wearer.

Old Hat -- You are probably correct -- it looks like a hat someone would select for weather (or maybe hiking and camping).

Do you think that is really a fur felt Rummy is wearing? I can't tell.

Wish I could find a photo of Kennedy in his fedora. It was a black one and looked really interesting. He was wearing it with the brim up in front, which seems to be the style now, not down. That one looked fur felt to me.

Looks like Souter and Thomas in front of him, wonder who is in that lighter gray fedora to the side?

Is that Breyer on his left side (our right side?).

Thanks Dave, for finding the photo.
