Does anyone know of any resources for vintage Emporium Capwell labels? I'm trying to find information about a suit, and the label is scanned below.

I've looked around, but haven't found any pics or resources.

Thank you in advance -

I don't know anything about Emporium Capwell. I do know, however, that Nino Cerruti was a brand of mediocre suits in the '70s and '80s. Thrift stores are full of 'em, and the ones I've seen haven't been very good quality.

Hmmm....that's interesting. Over on another board, they made noises that this was something special.

I need to take it out and get a better look and post more photos for more opinions. Mr. Orgetorix, would you happen to know today's prices on those thrift store suits? And on a personal note: You're welcome. Glad you liked them.

Wikipedia....

In 1927, the Emporium merged with the Oakland-based department store, H.C. Capwell, forming a new holding company, Emporium-Capwell Co., but retaining their respective identities.

"Broadway-Hale Stores, later Carter Hawley Hale Stores, acquired Emporium-Capwell Co. in 1969, and consolidated its San Francisco Bay Area operation under the (still separate) Emporium and Capwell names, finally merging them in 1979 under the Emporium-Capwell name, later dropping that unwieldy moniker in favor of Emporium in 1990. In 1991 Emporium assumed operation of the Sacramento-based Weinstock's department store chain, which had a similar merchandsing structure."

So this would put that label...which is Emporium-Capwell from between 1979 and 1990.
