I'm forever having stocking slip, skirts tucked in ect.
The worst one is anytime there is a small breeze or I'm on the underground, my skirt/dress feels the need to blow up. I flash people almost everytime I go on the underground.
I've given up with it, I wear a pencil skirt if I'm going to central London now. Too many people have seen my smalls lol

I am a G-string gal....but sometimes I should think twice...

I was parked in front of my friends house and I was fixing the children seatbelts when wind did me a trick and sent my light dress up to waist...

I really, really hoped nobody noticed but then I got a

- "Nice tatoo" (very low on my waist...)
and a
-" I did'nt know full moon could be seen during day time..."

My sister and I had a horribly windy encounter last spring. We were in Gettysburg, PA with our family and we were wearing long, trumpet flared skirts.

It was a deliciously windy day, but on the ground it really wasn't causing us any problems.

Not until we had climbed one of the look out towers and stepped forth onto the platform did we realize HOW windy it was! Both our skirts went flying up to our waists.

Of course, being trumpet skirts, those things are impossible to hold down. Thankfully we were both wearing slips, but it was still horribly embarrassing.

 lol I too have had a garter "fail"...I noticed that one of my clasps was broken, so I popped a penny in to hold it for the time being. That was, until the penny popped out and rolled across a busy mall floor  A small child picked it up and ran to his mother "Look, Mummy, that lady's giving out lucky pennies!"

I've had the original zip to a dress break - in church no less.
Luckily I don't think very many people noticed and my mum's friend gave me her long cardigan so that I could cover up. But thank goodness I was wearing a slip!
I was wondering why my back felt so cold and it was the middle of summer...

Oh, this thread is cracking me up!

I'm terminally clumsy and am constantly tripping, falling, or dropping things. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one!

I've had the "dress fly up around my waist on a windy day" several times. The most memorable one was about 15 years ago. I was wearing a very long wrap skirt and walking across a sidewalk in front of a bank drive-thru. The wind caught it just right and my wrap skirt flew WIDE OPEN, right in front of about 12 cars. I can laugh about it now, but at the time I was absolutely mortified!

I've also had garter fail several times. We were at a WWII event back in February and one of my garter buttons went MIA, sending my stocking sagging down my leg. Naturally it was a rear garter, so I couldn't reach it easily. Plus, there were about 48 men there and the event was mostly open field except for a couple of old cabins (taken over by the men), so I had no place to hide to fix anything. Finally my husband and I were able to get into the attic of one of the cabins, so he could stick a nickel in there to hold it. (Nickels work better than pennies because they're slightly heavier & thicker - FYI.) So there we are, in this nasty old attic with barely room to stand up, me with my skirt hiked up around my waist, and my husband bent down behind me trying to repair the busted garter. I was giggling the whole time and when we came down the stairs, about 10 guys were standing around giving us the "What were you doing up there?" stare. lol

Skintight, black silk velvet 30s dress. Swing dancing. It ripped as I turned under his outstretched arm, from the point of my elbow all the way down to my hip. And no, I had NOTHING on under it but a garter belt and stockings (I was a very bad girl back then). So here I am in the Fairmont Hotel, no needle and thread, no safety pins, no coat - I sort of hugged the tatters around me and ran to a cab!

There was a notorious British tabloid news photo I remember from the late '80s/early '90s showing Sarah Ferguson (former Duchess of York) at some swanky event, back to the camera, with the back of her skirt tucked up into the waistband of her pantyhose. It's reassuring to know such things can happen to anyone.

Also, I wanted to add that the escalator story posted several pages back completely freaked me out. Every time I ride an escalator, when we get near the end, I look at my husband or whoever I'm with, throw out a "Don't get sucked under!" and practically LEAP over the metal grate edge to clear it. lol

I guess I thought I looked good when I added a little extra padding to my stretchy bodice, and went out dancing. It wasn't so great after all, as I was dancing west coast swing with a handsome stranger and my extra bust padding worked its way up and out of my low neckline.
I've also, on occasion, had to remove some offending undergarment when it just wouldn't stop migrating.

I had a nice navy blue silk velvet dress that must have had unstable dye.
After dancing a vigorous foxtrot, my partner's hand was stained blue!

*lol* Thank you for the tip, fortworthgal, about using a nickle instead of a penny to "mend" a garter! Perhaps that'll get me over my fear of wearing garters again  :D

I agree, so nice to see I'm not the only clutz here, even the Duchess can make a boo boo :)

Things happen to me so regularly I don't think I can remember them all.
Last weekend my best friend got married and there were a few hours to fill between the morning ceremony and evening do. I was walking around town with my husband when one of my hold-ups kept falling down. I somehow made it to a bathroom in a shop, but had to put on a garter belt I kept in my bag for emergencies in a public toilet, whilst trying to get the seams straight and having to lose my waist cincher. It took 20 minutes or so, and one leg still felt uneven all night.
A few weeks ago I was walking my dog in a dress and fell over whilst walking on muddy ground, flashing a young man who came to my rescue.
On honeymoon in Cuba I was walking along the Malecon in Havana and slipped on wet ground, whilst hubby walked on talking to me, not realising I had gone. Again, I flashed the entire crowd whilst laughing hysterically and trying to get up, aided by an old man.
On my first date with my husband I told him how I once walked into a glass door as a teenager, and half an hour later after we exited the restaurant I walked straight into a glass window.
In grade 5 on a school trip to the seaside I was trying to remove my sweater whilst walking with the entire class, and accidentally took my t-shirt off as well. Not a good moment for an insecure teeanger, and it took years to live that one down.
One of my good friends is prone to this as well. Whilst invigilating an exam of about 50 students in university, standing at the front of the room, her pink sparkly underwear from the night before fell out of her jean leg. She kicked it away from her, pretending she *just* found it, then dropped it in the bin and stayed at school until late at night that day so she could avoid seeing any of her students on the bus.
Another time she had her period and whilst at the airport managed to get a few small blood stains on her trouser legs after visiting the ladies room without noticing it. When she got to the security check, they noticed and frantically pulled on her trousers to see if she was hiding knives in her boots and then demanded an explanation when no knife was found.

A couple of months ago, I was seated upstairs on a very busy bus. It was a hot day and I was wearing a light cotton 50s day dress. I got on at the beginning of the route when the bus was practically empty but by the time I had reached my stop, it was extremely busy, and the whole downstairs was full of standing passengers. As we approached my stop, I made my way down the stairs and stood at the bottom for a minute or so. However, I noticed that people were staring at me strangely, then a woman called across to me attracting the attention of everyone on the lower deck 'excuse me miss, i think your zip is undone'. So basically the zip down the side of my dress from a few inches under my armpit to my hip had come undone, leaving a gaping hole where everyone stood to my left could see my bra, stomach and huge unsightly knickers. I went beetroot and scuttled off the bus as fast as i could. I don't know whether i want to strangle that woman or cuddle her!

BOOBS AHOY!

I was at the Rythm Riot last year and I was bopping about to the music, I was wearing this little sailor top and dnaincg away my friend came up to me and said "your boob is showing" I just tucked myself away laughed it off and kept going. Not exactly my fault!

OOO and a second one - I was doing a photoshoot for custom car 3 55 Chevys and I had some super tight Sandy Pants satin, high waisted...gorgeous!
so in the rush of putting them on I split them from crutch to knees! In the end I had to wear some red shorts but it was quite funny explaining it to the photographer!

It was my first real job and the annual christmas gala had come around. I had found this amazing black dress, that came completely up to my collarbones but was very low cut in the back, two very thin straps around my arms to keep it up. I was looking and feeling fabulous, dancing with a great friend I had gotten at this new job and we were the only ones on the dancefloor. It should be said, the backstory here is as with any very large compay there was a lot of gossip and everybody thought my friend and I were an item, we were not, but we didn't mind fuelling peoples imagination for fun.

So, back to the dance floor, he spins me out fast and on the way 'in' suddenly one strap snaps and he saw it before I felt it, because his free hand lands very promptly on top of my 'girl' holding the fabric from not falling down further. Nothing was exposed though.

He quickly escorted me out to the coatroom where they found a safety pin I could use.

The next manday at work was buzzing with talk about us..

What a gent, lucky he had a quick reaction time! Brought to mind that scene in Bringing Up Baby where Katherine Hepburn has lost the back of her dress and Cary Grant clamps his top hat on her derriere to stop her flashing the entire restaurant!

It was the first day of High School. We were all lined up in the Gym. Guys on one side and girls on other but near each other.

Of course all the Senior boys were scoping out all the new Freshman girls.

Someone accidently knocked my glasses off. They proceeded to be kicked along the floor or so I thought as I am blind as a bat.
Some girl finally came to my aid as the guys were noticing me but not for what I wanted them to.
School years can be cruel.
After that fiasco I moved from a very small town and school to a large city and school. I met my best friend for life when she came to my aid one day right after the move.
I was in Art class and again Senior boys were in attendance. They somehow slapped a local radio bumper sticker to my back which said, "Country Fresh" on it.
Everyone was laughing and I was about to cry. No one but her came to my rescue. We have been friends ever since. She was/is gorgeous and she was used to their nonsense. lol

How lovely to have such a good friend still after all these years!!

I totally understand where you are coming from.

I was blind as a bat and got picked on alot, "speccy, four-eyes, penfold", children can be very cruel. Boys - what were they? But then i had some nice mates who were there for me which is the main thing. I just stayed in my bedroom, wrote bad poetry, listened to Morrissey and hopefully cultivated a bit of a personality and a sense of humour about the sorry state of affairs!

This is fun! Let me think...
When I was about 16 I had a pair of those jeans without a button to the fly. They started out alright but over time the zipper got weak and I found myself with my pants falling down while trying to help my friends move. You can't pull up your pants when you're carrying furniture that's for sure! I spent much of the day with them nearly hanging around my knees. They didn't even have belt loops to save me.
New Years eve last year I wore a very elaborate steampunk outfit complete with huge hoop skirt. As soon as I sat down on the very crowded bus the hoop flew up into my face. It certainly was a crowd pleaser! Luckily the cold meant was wearing pants underneath!
Last but not least, on my wedding day we were in Stanley Park in Vancouver, and I got very uncomfortable in my corset with the long hours and the heat. I refused to go into the tiny disgusting bathrooms in my wedding dress, so I had my grandma climb under and hike it over my head to help me remove the corset in front of tons of tourists. How elegant :S
