Edwardian Fabric Choice

Hello all!

I'm an intermediate tailor, recreating and Edwardian cutaway suit. What they would considered semi-formal day wear. Not quite a morning coat, but not quite a sack coat. Business frock coat, English walking frock. Etc etc..

I have an Oxford grey twill in a rough texture at my disposal, and a blue and white houndstooth. Would either be appropriate for city dress circa 1910?

It's hard to say, most of us have garnered what we know of period styles and fashions from what we see at various festivals. The frock coat has been around for over two centuries and actual fabric choices for given periods tend to become embellished in the preferred rather than what actually was.

The Frock Coat is still around but here in the UK it underwent a name change. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zoot-Suit-Enigmatic-Career-Extreme/dp/0812223039 It is known nowadays as The Zoot Suit. The Oxford Grey would make a fabulous Frock Coat, but whether it's period original or not, I wouldn't hazard a guess.
