I missed these boots by one afternoon on the Internet. Bauer's website had them, and then they were gone. That's what a sale can do. I like the rustic style of them and the height of them. The soles are not like the modern cheap looking but tough industrial strength soles on most work boots. They have an old school look to them that reminds one of a time when soles were more organic and earthy. Plus, the "antique" look of the leather was made to rough up nicely with a bit of wear, causing an accelerated patina-like appearance with smooth spots that resembled very old leather. My friend has a pair that look great after a year or so.
It seems as though Eddie Bauer might be going into receivership or straight bankruptcy--yet another casualty of the coming global "depression" (NWO power grab) engineered by a cadre of brilliant economists and mathematicians working for decades ahead of time, at the behest of multi multi billionaire/trillionaire psychopath robber-barons. At anyrate, I called Wolverine just out of curiosity. They don't make them any longer and have no plans to do so any time soon. Drat! There may even be a legal reason for never making them again, since they were made specially to be sold by Eddie Bauer.
I got these instead. http://www.drysdales.com/detail-6164-Durango-Mens-Short-Harness-Boots.html
I also got these in black: http://www.amazon.com/Rockport-Mens-Parkridge-Zip-Boot/dp/B004MZQ3M8/ref=pd_sbs_shoe_11
I am happy with both of these purchases. They are well made boots. The Rockports are extremely comfortable. I might even wear them on my MC.
I am still debating getting a pair of these for riding: http://www.centralpolice.com/Chippewa_17_Black_Polishable_Trooper_Boot_27950_p/27950.htm. The laces coming untied whilst riding could be a pain, however. I was also thinking of getting these: http://www.centralpolice.com/Chippewa_17_Black_Polishable_Steel_Toe_Motorcycle_p/71418.htm. This site stocks Chippie engineers and trooper boots at rock bottom prices. I researched the subject online for several hours and then I had second thoughts due to the steel toes. I heard that they are not so comfortable and they make it unpleasant to toe shift on one's MC. Talk about Internetitus. Pitiful, I know.
