I was kind of hoping that would happen.:eusa_clap

Thanks Robert. It will be the first bowler I have ever worn in public - never thought it would happen.

Er, what's the big deal? Artie's silliness seems to have hit a nerve.

Ah JtL, that Pliafelt will not disappoint. Clearly I need to pay more
attention on eBay.

Derby or Open Crown?

I won this hat yesterday and I am stoked as it looks like NOS. I used to own a kitten finish 3X Beaver Resistol and it was some amazing felt. I'm hoping this one will stack up.

Looks like an open crown with either cav. or welted edge. Nice!

I'm with you. I have a Mallory Dallas in Premier Quality Pliafelt -- some of the nicest felt of any of my lids.

Cheers,
JtL

How are you searching international eBay sites ??

Well, you go to the international eBay site and, well, search. I don't understand the difficulty.

eBay.fr is particularly easy as it's very well organised vis a vis categories. Search "chapeau* hom*"; don't forget the asterisks. You'll get more focused results by going through the correct categories. In this case "Collections" "Costumes, Vêtements D'époque". I'll leave you to find the correct categories in eBay.de, eBay.it etc. etc.

I have little idea why i'm helping out the competition. Call it being helpful. Nice fedoras go cheap on eBay.fr; might be a challenge to find one larger than 7 1/8 though.

Just arrived. Was it common for bowlers to taper outward like this? I bought this to filch the liner for a fedora, but it's a beautiful hat that I'll be wearing as-is:

Wow. I can't wait to see more. :eusa_clap

thanks for the help, I always though eBay.com would search the international sites automatically and give results that are shipped world wide, guess I better brush up on my french

You're right, it does. But it misses an awful lot, and it only searches using the words you've entered. Therefore unlikely to find a fedora not called a fedora. And they seem never to use the word "vintage" in Europe.

Have you ever told yourself; "Self, you have too many hats, you don't need any more." Then you stumble across something you have to have?

DAMN MY EYES! :D
