I'd venture that the reason for that is the bid reached the highest point anyone was willing to pay for that hat an hour before bidding ended.

Cheers,

Yes, and I went to bed at some stage. ;)

:D You guys are hilarious!

I won this little puppy the other day.
Based on the seller's photos and the price I paid for it, I really didn't expect much.

It turned out to be a little nicer than I thought,....as a matter of fact it's the first hat I won that doesn't need a trip to Optimo, and probably won't for some time.

Very nice, HP. With a trim silhouette the stingys can really finish off an ensemble. It's a nice, crisp look.

Wow, HP. What a gem! Good find there.

I'm still grumpy because the last 3 or 4 7 3/4 hats I bid on were snatched away from me. Curse my huge head! It's so hard to find my size and when I do they always go for more than I can pay. I think I'm going to start looking for 7 5/8 and then just have them stretched up a size.

I buy hats in need of work and send them off to be re-sized,....that way it gives me a broader spectrum of sizes to choose from. In the end I have a nice clean hat made from vintage felt that fits like a glove, all for about the same price as one of the newer "not-so-nice" felts from a dealer.

Lots of rods casting into those waters of the Bay! :D

Yeah, I think you might be right. It's a much more popular size. What I really really want isn't likely to float along in the Bay anyway.

If I can sell one or two more of my costume items on Etsy, I'll have enough to buy another Fed IV before the exchange rates get too high.
