Mario said:This one was supposed to be my last win before taking a few weeks off from the hat buying frenzy, but, alas, my sniper backfired and so my $76.99 max bid went nowhere, giving the happy winner the chance to walk away with that nice grey Whippet for $71.00...
That hurt! :rage:
Well...one day, when I'm grown up, I'll finally have my own Whippet...

I was really keen on this one but figured early on that the price was eventually going to be way beyond my meager budget. Three figures are just too much for me to handle at this time. In fact, I think I'll have to stop buying new hats for some time to come. There are just too many other things revolving around me as it is.

Before de-scuzzification and re-dyeing of the ribbon.
And after a little work.

Also, a near-perfect sweatband and nice liner, but it had an ancient porkpie crease that I still haven't gotten out, and needs a new ribbon/bow. Very floppy, comfortable hat.
Both have a crispy clear cover over the liner logo. Both seem to be from about 1950.
Also, both were owned by Dr. E.I. Varvel, a Colorado dentist who passed in 1960.

Scott, that Stratoliner cleaned up really nicely. You did a good job with it and the dual pins are great.

Seriously, great job on cleaning it up. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap I consoled myself with what I thought would be a too-low bid on that 7 3/8 brown Stratoliner that Lefty just posted. Much to my surprise, I won. :eusa_doh: Ah, well, I'll get over it but I definitely need to step away from eBay for a while again.
Cheers,
Tom
PS Still waiting on that Vagabond to arrive. According to eBay it shipped yesterday!:rage:

Nice hat, but I don't care for the Mode Edge/thin ribbon combo.
