One EURO? That has to be some historic moment on this thread ...FL's cheapest recorded hat auction?

Yeah, nifty price tag, eh? But then, I had another, even higher price to pay for this one: my nerves. It took exactly THREE weeks to ship to Berlin. That is, three weeks within Germany. And the communication with the seller was almost non-existent; it took days and days until he (rather grumpily) replied to my mails (if ever). But never mind. It has at least (yesterday!) savely arrived and I am one happy man! :)

BTW: Is there anyone who can shed some light on that hat by Atlanta? What kind of company it is/was? Same with Peschel. It's hard to find any information on that brand. I even phoned up several German hatters to get some infos, but to no avail.

A Peschel with very, very soft felt. Came complete with trolley and a few stains on the liner. Tops with 23,83 €.

Some really nice finds!

The Mayser hats look like they are from 1960s.

Did you look behind the Atlanta sweat for info (label)? Also what does it say on the liner.

I like the Peschel the best. Do you have any info on Peschel? Also Hut-Seidel?

If possible please post the German ones on this thread.

What ever you do DON'T TUG THE BRIM! They do shrink up and the edge is fragile. A gentle tug or two and it comes apart. It will keep the sun off however.
is this a bad thing, or just something relating to this specific type of panama?

any thoughts on the latter hats?

It was a terrible listing by a clueless seller. We still don't know the
size of either hat. Man, if I could find a Dunlap 20 from those
days in my size I'd pay a LOT more than $10.

I have experience with that hat. I bought a 7 5/8 and wore it while doing yard work. After a good sweat it shrunk to a 7 3/8. Not about to give up I sprayed it with a little water and gave it a couple tugs. It now looks like one of those souvenir hats from the islands. I have been pleased with the higher quality Ultra.

The live auction looks good. If the hats are too small they go to your wife or sweetheart and if the are way too small they go to your child or nephew.

Ouch. Didn't notice it was a live auction.
PLEASE don't post live auctions. My apologies
to anyone who planned to bid on this auction
for further drawing attention to it. I hope the
bartenders remove the link soon.

I apologize- i had no intention of bidding in it so i figured it wouldn't hurt to post as it was merely a question. why aren't we allowed to post live auctions? Is it because it may make the folks here end up bidding against each other?

The Atlanta doesn't give away anything. There is no label, the liner only says 'Super-Extra', and there's no info on the sweatband either. Rather secretive company.

I'll repost the German hats with some additional images of the labels on the German & Austrian Hutmachers thread.
