I know its not a thin ribbon... :D
but it looks like a neat hat none the less!

That exact same hat showed up in the afternoon mail. It is outside with a coat of lexol on the sweatband. The box had a musty smell to it so it's out there too. It's not a Champ, but it's interesting....more later.

Thanks. Sorry about that, guys. I REALLY wanted that one. I've been chasing a nice Stevens for a long time. It was the brand my grandpa was likely to wear.

So it went to a friend! Well done ... hope it turns out as well as I thought it might.

Well, being that I just love my DOBBS "Fifteen" and have had meager success with size 7 1/8(which this hat is), I figured, "what the hell" and scored this DOBBS for $19 total. It looks like it needs a bit of reshaping and the seller says it's in great condition, but I'll know for sure once I get it. Her great may just be different than my great. I am hoping it's a diamond in the rough though. I've got my fingers crossed!

Well turns out the seller's great matched my great. It's quite a nice hat and fits well too! Unfortunately it's a "stingy", so I'll be putting this back on the market and I think it should do pretty well. The only discrepancy I could find was a couple minute stains at the top of the crown. Probably flipped upside down on a slightly dirty surface.

I had this hat and two other with small opening bids, but with the Victory of THE STETSON ONE-HUNDRED I had to watch them go.

A few more Pyrrhic victorys like the "100" & the OR Deluxe and I and my Hats will be living in the Truck;) ;) ;)
Great job Ande:eusa_clap :eusa_clap

7 1/8 STETSON Western - Nutria w/ Bound Edge

I found this great older Stetson Nutria Western with an underbound edge on ebay this morning. Couldn't resist the BIN price. [huh] ;) :)

Here is the listing description:

"Rural Colorado estate item from the 1920s? 1930s? Has 3 1/2" brim and 6" tall crown Vintage Size 7 1/8 STETSON COWBOY HAT Sold by Western Ranchman Outfitters, 210 W. Sixteenth St., Cheyenne Wyoming has unusual bound edge - the binding is all on the underside of the brim - the brim binding ribbon matches the 6-ply hatband. The sweat band is brittle & cracked & has a faint owners name. The felt is really nice with one small soft place at the back of the crease. Under the sweatband there are 2 John B. Stetson Philadelphia PA stickers. Liner is about good - its the red shirted mounted cowboy with text "Stetson Nutria" underneath. Nice vintage Stetson w/ Cheyenne, Wyoming provenance. "

Randy,
Very nice. This ad from 1954 shows that this is yet another model that could vary a bit. ;)

That's mine, Lefty.

Hope it fits.....I usually wear a 7-1/8. I may have to stretch it a bit.

You bought the one hat that I could always rely on to be there when I searched the bay. It was my little security blanket, and you stole it.:rage:

BIN was $74.76 + $9.76 shipping.

You'll never see it on my head. It's a size 7 1/8 and I wear a 7 5/8.

It was just too nice to pass up!
:)
