I’m not sure which to be happier over.. the cool color on this awesome featherweight Champ. The deal I got on it…. Or the fact that it arrived on my front porch this morning in a giant box via FedEx Sunday delivery for only I think $4.95 shipping.

A Spanish-American War Campaign hat made of alligator or similar reptile. It's presently for sale on eBay. It was owned by a Pennsylvania soldier, whose name is inside the hat, John Garbrey. The hat looks like a Gus style Western hat to me.

I was the high bidder on a Worth & Worth ....Palacios made fedora.

Don't need another hat but curious to see one of his builds in the flesh. Won it for a good price $98 with $10 shipping but the Ebay site won't or the seller won't let me pay for it with the $10 US shipping address. It will only accept a $59 shipping to my Canadian address. I ain't paying $59 shipping on a $98 listing.

We shall see if this gets resolved. Oh, it is a US seller as well. My cynical self is thinking the seller is playing silly bugger to extort more money from me because they didn't get what they expected from the auction.

Wow! Wins like this make up for so many other hassles from the Ebay folks.

If it helps, feel free to use my address.

I did check that out but he won't ship to a CA address either. He is intent on charging the $59 to Canada. Weird....I want the hat but refuse to pay the shipping. I just checked out a nice St Regis hommie in my size at a good price but he wants $74 to ship to my WA address.

That’s odd. Do you have the address as one of your official PayPal addresses? If you select the Washington or California address when you go through the PayPal checkout the seller usually has to accept that address….they don’t get to choose. Are you sure you have the US address(s) in your PayPal shipping options?

Yes, I pretty much have all my Ebay purchases sent to the US address. Once in a while I will have it sent here if the shipping is not stupid and I am not planning to travel across the border. This is the first time it has happened. He listed a US shipping price of $10 so that is not the issue. It is weird.

Problem solved. It looks like a glitch in the Ebay checkout. I went in and changed my Canadian address to the USA address as primary. That didn't work. So I went into their system and put in my USA address again as if it were new and made it primary. That worked. I have an Orlando Palacios original headed my way. I shall see what a $700 rabbit felt hat looks like!!!!!!

Well, I picked up my Orlando Palacios, Worth & Worth fedora this morning. I am not surprised at how underwhelmed I am as it looks pretty much like the Ebay listing picture.

The hat is very floppy. I think it is a Tonak hare or rabbit felt at 120grams. Much more millinery weight than fedora weight.

My wife says it looks more like a ladies hat as it is so floppy.
The finish is good, the ribbon work is nice. Sweat band decent quality leather. He does glue gun his liners in place which is a bit weird for a hat selling for $450 to $750.

I paid $98 for it and it is a decent hat but no way I would be paying more than $200 for it had I seen it in a shop.

I may just tear it down, reblock it stealing some brim to add to the crown.
