ALL the same seller. Let us know when you see SOLD at those prices........;)
I am guessing a mistake in the listings (as Brent suggested) looking at this seller sales history. NOTHING this seller has had, has sold anywhere near those prices........as you say...bad day in the clerical department, off a few decimal points.:)

The seller is in Japan. I think the exchange rate always hovers around $1US = 150 yen. Japan is among the most expensive countries in the world especially when it comes to international sales & trade. The seller is simply protecting his yen price. Perhaps Gary @The Shoe can weigh in here.

PS: recently there has been an increase in listings of Pendleton board shirts & Pendleton coats from Japan priced higher than from Pendleton, excluding Japanese only patterns & Models.
Interesting that the seller doesn’t ship to Japan. So I would have to get it sent to one of you, so you could send it to me. Damn! I miss out on free shipping. That $40 is a real deal breaker!

Actually the exact same hat is on Mercari (an online market, which I suspect you also have over there, but it’s huge here) for three million yen. That’s a measly $20,000. If anyone wants it, I’ll grab it and send it to you for $4000. You save more than $4600!
The Japanese listing has all the same photos as ebay, with the addition of these two:

Looking through other vintage Stetsons on the same site, I can tell you that this seller’s hats are going for a minimum of 20 times more than any others. And he/she hasn’t sold any of them.

Thanks Gary, for your reply.

This hat should be waiting for me upon my arrival home tomorrow. I’ve long had an interest in one of these Carlos Santana hats with the super cool looking sweat band art. But the only ones I have come across have been hideous on the outside. I’m sure they are gimmicky.. but I just can’t resist finding out. a fair offer from the seller and now I should find out.

Ok....I have never had this happen on Ebay before.........ever.....

Often I get outbid and sometimes the bid occurs right on the minute (second) of the auctions close.

But last night I was outbid AFTER the auction closed (granted by a few seconds, literally...but). I have NEVER been outbid after the auction closed before.

Is this something new?? Has anyone else seen this happen??

I rarely buy on eBay, but have not had that happen. Even if there was a rash of last second bids I would think the system could handle it and know what the highest was that made it under the wire.

BTW ... I hate auctions that end at a fixed time. I prefer the ones with a "soft close" (extending the time if there is a bid in the last few minutes). More like a real in-person auction.

Yes I was surprised too....the auction said I was winning...(now I am whining:oops::rolleyes:)......... then.... I lost.....when I looked at the bid history, the winning bid showed a time that was clearly AFTER the action close (albeit something like 5 seconds).

As I said I never have had that happen....there was also a bid one second before the action closed that upped my reserve bid, so my reserve bid showed an increase one second before close (but winning). But then I end up being outbid AFTER close....

I have seen these last second (literally) registered bids, even ones at close on the dot....just NEVER after.

:(:(:(

Why not ask eBay to explain it?
Well, I thought about it......the last time I reached out over something that actually mattered, I lost over 2 hours of my time just getting through their system...which I am sure does not even cover this situation.

I am not really that mad....and I look at it a a savings on the wallet for something I did not really NEED anyway....;)

It’s never happened to me, but when I opened the Fedora Lounge this morning, my notifications told me that *Hurricane Jack replied to the thread What are you listening to?. There may be more posts after this.
Tomorrow at 4:06 AM”
