I came back to say I’m loving the color!

I
Thanks, Daniel! Me, too. It’s no Knox 100 but surely a happy hue of Stetson “Royal” blue.
It’s possible that one day I’ll fall into the unfortunate position that Louis is in and have to sell some of my best hats.
The good thing is we have these wonderful hats to enjoy in the precious meantime then sell later for much more than we paid.
That’s a fall back plan, for me, anyway.

Defeat. :(

Based on the seller’s photos I thought I might have something nice. It was listed as a 7 5/8 and based on the label in the felt it was made by Stetson. The hat arrived and it’s a 7 3/8 and the Stetson label was in a plastic baggie and clearly didn’t belong to the hat. The felt was disappointing too. It’s going back.

eBay hat arrival victories lineup,
With two others for comparisons.

This Brent isn’t as “Bill Hughes” as the eBay photos depicted, but she’s still sweet.

This one needs a lot of love.
Felt quality is very poor, but it’ll make a fine looking lid. Wish the sweat wasn’t toast.

This is a 40s Stetson Tijuana-Gay Prince clone. Much better looking hat on the head, IMO. Wider brim, taller crown helps, but the Tijuana somehow displays a more macho character.

Below pic shows well the contrast between two “gray” hats.
The “Bantam wanna be” is still just a hair bluer in hand.

I didn't know that the "Bill Hughes" has become a classification but I'll take it!
For me, a classification of high praise.
All your fedoras have “The Look” with well proportioned straight sided, tall crowns and wide brims perfectly flanged creating flawless snap breaks.
To be that consistent among your many vintage (and new) fedora acquisitions must’ve been an intentional endeavor deserving admiration.
Also know that I’ll suffer severe judgement for my envy with each and every one of your WHAYWT post.

This Borsalino is in the mail from France, I am not sure how I snuck it out from under our European brothers! I made an offer after the seller sent me pics of the paper label, then I got nervous when she posted the pics because other buyers might get interested, but I got away with the hats for relatively low damage.

Hopefully this also signals I am full of and out of the market for black hats ;)

Wide brimmed 20s (probably) black Borsalino.

That's a cool find, Daniel. Some of them just fly under the radar for some reason (well, under my radar at least). Congrats on this score. We expect a full report once it arrives of course.

I find these "every-hat's-a-WHIPPET-style" misleading listings so irritating.
I sent the seller Fruno's Whippet collage. He is also listing a velour Borsalino "WHIPPET style"

The Knox is gone!
Just bought this Churchill 100 Vicuña from the same seller as the Knox 100.
I didn't even take a close look at the pictures. I couldn't BIN fast enough, and I have nimble fingers.
My other one is Silverbelly, and it cost me a whole lot more.
The felt on these is to die for. View attachment 404764 View attachment 404765 View attachment 404766 View attachment 404767 View attachment 404768 View attachment 404769 View attachment 404770 View attachment 404771 View attachment 404772

I didn’t know they even came in brown. Gorgeous hat, Max; I’m glad this and the Knox are being kept in the family, and with someone who truly appreciates them.

Yes, these are pretty wonderful!

I think the vicuña goes well as a blend, I am not sure 100% vicuña holds up as well with felt hats. It may be the model, but I have a Borsalino vicuña that is less impressive than my Churchills.

I wish I had a Borsalino Vicuña. It's been on my list and no bites

So you’re saying this is a wool blend hat, right? Are they crushable Lite-Felt? The Churchill division of Bollman, right? ;)
