1920s? A. Rascower and Son Velour. Is this called a Tom Mix with a pencil curl? I missed it the first time it was listed, and I regretted it. I wasn't going to let it pass the second time. Glad no one else bid on it. Max, you have lots of great hats, but that belongs on the top shelf with your best! Congratulations!

Thank you, Brent. It had stuck in my mind. I am glad that vintage-haberdashers relisted it. BTW, I wonder how much Dinerman is involved with it now. It used to be that they answered questions promptly and cordially. Now it takes several messages to get a curt response three days later, if at all

I know Spencer has been quite busy trying to open a new storefront ... perhaps that was the issue.

This is lovely, Max, congrats!
You certainly didn't ask but what about re-blocking and putting a more dress bash on it?
I know however you wear hat it'll be great.

All of the research I’ve found on Tom Mix hats points to 7.5x5 bound brim.
By 1930 or so in his public appearances Tom Mix was starting to downsize his hat dimensions.

Beautiful breastplate & martingale, 1932.

Got this clean 50s Stetson Custom V about two weeks ago.
Heathered tan and brown felt. She’s a real beaut!
Don’t know what the V stands for.
Has a cool, unique 1 1/4” burlap style hat band having flecks of color woven throughout.
2 1/2” overwelt brim with 3 rows of decorative stitching.

Oh how I wish this one fit me!
Been hoping to find a heathered fedora and doubt there could be many more finer examples than this one, especially one of the rare V’s.
If I was a true collector I’d keep it, but only like to keep those that I can wear comfortably. Alas, She’ll be put back up on the Bay soon.
Nevertheless, I’m happy to have owned this great lid for a few weeks.
