Lots of steam should soften the stiffening agent. I’d be more concerned that the brim will end up wonky.

When you have a large head and like vintage hats you sometimes take some risks.

We feel your excitement, Ross! I hope you are able to make it work, but you’ll be the first guy I’ve heard of to pull it off with a vintage derby. We’re all in your corner! Just gather as much info on the process as you can, go slowly. Very, VERY slowly.

Most of these out of whack listings are out of Japan though I’ve never looked to see if it’s the same seller.

They’re proud of Whippets in Japan as well. There’s a chocolate brown 3/8 I sent over there that was likely for resale.

Seller is in Osaka, Japan. The Japanese collectors market is quite different. I'm only puzzled by the currency being in US dollars.
