Makes sense. Flushing my theory now!
Oh, well. I still got the Borsalino Marten, though. That's a good one.
I got a Malrov recently, too.

I hear you Max. Nobody likes to miss out on a great hat. But those great losses contribute to one’s appreciation of the victories all the more.
And besides, I really don't think it was worth that much.
Sometimes you see an identical hat go for a lot less a month or two after you lost one.

A couple of months ago I saw a 7 3/8 LO Knox Premier on Etsy that I really liked. I coveted it for a couple of months, but finally decided against it because the brim was 2 3/8", and the price of $625 seemed outrageous. I also thought I could see the mark that a hat that had been stacked over it had left on the felt of the crown, and Alan told me Knox Premier felt is inferior to that of a Knox Twenty.

I just bought another Knox Premier with the same size and the same felt and ribbon color on eBay. It doesn't have a felted edge, but the brim is 2 3/4", the felt doesn't have the stacked hat marking, I like the bound edge, it comes with the box, and it cost $225.

I think Ignacio or even I can steam and shape it so it looks like the one on Etsy.

The first three pics are from Etsy, and the rest are from eBay.

By the way, can anyone tell me which of the two is older?
The liners are different.

I saw that one on ebay and actually like it better, personally. Mostly for the cool colored brim binding, although I do like a felted edge... but those older hats with the rose, salmon, etc., colored brim bindings really pop for me.

I can't help you much with dating, sorry, but really nice Knox, Max.

I got this in the mail yesterday. It was the most unpleasant experience I've had with a US based seller, but I finally got my hat, and that's all I care about.

Not sure what year it is. The box looks pretty dated, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Vintage or not, I managed to get it for $50, so I count that in the win column.

I love the Cavanagh edge (by any name) and think it’s classy and understated. However, that contrasting binding ribbon is lovely. I really like the rose tones in it.

The seller informed me the hat was smashed flat and the brim rolled up for another bidder who I beat to the punch, thus the price. Gave me a chance to back out. Nope. If he/she could steam and block it, I'll give it my best too. I'm just learning, so will consider it a mid-term exam.
Better luck next time if I beat out a Lounge member. 6 7/8 isn't my size, but I need to work on fur felt. So far I'm practicing on wool almost exclusively. PM me if you want to consider it after I pass or fail the test.

Just won this Stetson Medalist. I don't know what it's made of. Alan says he thinks it might be a coated natural fabric treated with rain-resistant resin, or something.
Does anyone have an opinion?
I bought it because I have never seen something like it. The seller didn't seem to know either.
