Was watching this one out of curiosity more than anything else. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Stetson-Hat-In-Original-Leather-Case-10X-/181637283511?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=kRApW4k4E%252B6qVCNdi4LB9k5LyVk%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc I'm not sure if the ten x designation is in the same series as the 7x and 7xcb, or if this one would fall in with the new western only x scheme where there is little if any relation to beaver content. Also wonder if the box was original or definitely from a different time period and put together after the fact. Opinions?

This is newer than the 7X CB designation. When the 7X CB & 100 went away (early 70's), the top of the line OR was the 10X.
I've got a 10X that has $100 price tag in it. Not saying the 10X replaced the 100 but have seen catalogs with 4X, 6X & 10X version of ORs.
That hatbox looks like the 1970s model of the case for the 100....

How does the 10X stack up in quality to the 7x CB and 100? It looks like the case comes with the plastic inserts intact.

As the timeline progressed from the early 1950s, the high end hats retained a very smooth finish but got stiffer and stiffer and stiffer. It must have met a market requirement, though not mine.

Forgot to post this one, my first "new" hat in 3 months and yes, another Stagecoach.

The seller first listed it at $75 and I made an offer of $50 that later I raised to $60, but the seller didn't agree so he kept listing this hat several times at $75. Then he listed it for $70 then for $65 and I kept my offer of $60 until he agreed.
Should arrive soon since it's already in Lisbon.

People sometimes put excessive prices on things.
I think I saw this one on a 80's catalog but I cannot find the thread and I can't remember if I saved the scan.

God that thread is fully loaded with pictures... But found it!

Funny to see that a Stagecoach was $82.5 and a 4x beaver Tom Mix was $10 cheaper!!
$72.5 for the sand pebble color and $65 for the black one!!!

I had to laugh at this as there is the picture of the the Elkhorn i bought from them when i was in my Twenties i wore that hat for 15 years unit i replaced it with another Stagecoach in the mid eighties and still have it today.
