Thank you! I'm looking forward to visiting the outlet. Agree on the styles, but I'm pretty green. I'm starting to like more and more "looks." If you'd asked me last year at this time if I'd own a Homburg, I'd have laughed.

My guess: 1970-ish. It's a sweet Hommy.

Id say early to mid 1960's.

Go with Besdor, of course.

Thank you for the clarification! Was it the size tag that told?

Thank you for your guesses, they seem to be around the right time period, although brown leather sweatbands were much more common during the 1950s, and before, from what I understand. This should be a nice hat.

So yea this is easily one of the most substantial bummers i've had in a long time. JoshBru, it appears your instincts were preternatural.
This auction was an absolute mind****.

This is the hat I thought I won on Ebay, as it was the hat pictured on the auction.

This is the hat they sent me.

It's described in the auction as a 1960's black soft bowler hat from Battersby with a head opening at 21" or 54 cm . This hat is at least a 7 1/4 and is more than likely from the 30's or 40's. It's funny cause it's actually very nice old homburg, it just isnt at all the hat I was looking to buy. Every aspect of this auction was bungled pretty hilariously. I am extremely disappointed though, i've been looking for one of those charcoal bowlers for a long time now.

I've had eBay sellers inadvertently send the wrong items to me. These situations were sorted out after I contacted them about the erroneous shipment ~ I hope it works out for you assuming the bona fides of the seller of course.

I got a " meadowbrook" the other day then come to find out it's a Stetson with a new liner and the stetson stamp crossed out on the sweatband , nice surprise. I will post some pics when I get them uploaded.

That's a great looking grey hat! At that price, I don't think you did bad at all. I bought a light grey Stetson hat four years ago at around $125 dollars, and to me, it was worth that and more.

Ofcoursemyhorse, I'm sorry that the wrong hat arrived. While it still looks nice, it is clearly not the hat that was pictured. See if you could send it back for the other one, and maybe talk to the seller in detail about your problem.

This old (probably pre WWI) Mayser stiff felt is on the way. It's appears to be in very good condition and will be my oldest Mayser.
